HOUGHTON, Mich. – The (RV) Bemidji State University Men's Hockey team scored five-unanswered goals including four in the third period to comeback and defeat (RV) Michigan Technological University 5-2 in game one of their Central Collegiate Hockey Association series in Houghton, Mich.

Freshman
Lleyton Roed started the Beavers' (2-1-0, 1-0-0 CCHA) comeback by scoring the first two goals of his career and tying the game at 2-2 5:22 into the third period. Roed scored his first career goal after forcing a turnover and buried the opportunity 8:27 into the second period.

He then scored his second of the game to even the game at 2-2, 5:22 into the third period that began an onslaught of Beaver goals. Just 1:11 later, fifth-year senior
Mitchell Martan scored his team leading third goal of the season to give the Beavers their first lead of the game.

BSU then made it 4-2 at 10:07 of the frame when
Eric Martin scored his first of the season and then just 1:23 later, he netted his second of the game after forcing a turnover and displaying some smooth hands on a partial breakaway.

Bemidji State dominated play in its offensive zone and for the third consecutive game, it totaled 42 shots on goal and out-shot the Huskies (2-2-0, 0-1-0 CCHA) 42-19.

After allowing two goals through 23:41 of play, sophomore
Mattias Sholl stopped every puck after including eight in the third period and finished with 17 saves to record his first victory of the 2022-23 season (1-1-0).

Bemidji State scored all five of its goals during even strength and came up empty on its three power-play chances of the games. Its penalty kill also kept the Huskies power-play scoreless on their three chances.

Bemidji State will go for its first series sweep of the season tomorrow evening when the two teams meet again at 5:07 p.m. CDT at MacInnes Student Ice Arena.
