Wendt nets lone goal to earn 1-0 victory over Winona State

BSU wins 1-0 with second half goal from Sara Wendt

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University women's soccer team earned a 1-0 win over Winona State University after fifth-years senior Sara Wendt score the lone goal in the second half Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
 
The Beavers (6-2-4, 5-1-3 NSIC) get back into the win column after tying with St. Cloud State University in their last result. BSU led in nearly every category in tonight's game over Winona State (5-4-3, 3-3-3 NSIC). BSU had nine shots in the game five being on target and one of them being able slip into goal. Wendt scores her fourth goal of the season in the 56th minute, NSIC Defensive Player of the week Megan Dahl was on the assist. Allyson Smith got in the action with two shots and Maria Stocke and Megan Majewski both finished the night with one shot. 
 
In goal Alyssa Stumbaugh saw three shots on target and was able to corral all that came her way. Stumbaugh earns her fifth win of the season along with her fifth shutout as well. 
 
The Beavers continue home action Sunday with a 1 p.m. start against Upper Iowa University. This match is also senior day at BSU where the senior class will be recognized.
