Alt a finalist for Harlon Hill trophy for second consecutive season

Bemidji State junior Brandon Alt one of nine finalists for NCAA Division II Football Player of the Year

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – For the second consecutive season, Bemidji State University Football junior Brandon Alt is one of nine finalists for the 2022 Harlon Hill trophy as NCAA Division II College Football Player of the Year revealed by the Little Rock Touchdown club Thursday morning.

Alt, a native of Cottage Grove, Minn., was selected as a finalist by NCAA DII sports information directors through a round of regional voting. He was voted the program's second Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Year as well as All-NSIC First Team honors after leading the NSIC with 3,864 passing yards and 38 passing touchdowns. Those numbers are good enough to rank him third in Division II. He also posted a 156.6 passing efficiency and 59.9 completion percentage through 13 games during the 2022 season.

Alt broke the program's all-time career passing yardage and career touchdown passes records earlier this season and boasts 8,649 career passing yards and 94 career passing touchdowns.

Alt joins Colorado School of Mines senior quarterback John Motacha as the two finalists from Super Region 4 while Tyson Bagent, the 2021 Harlon Hill winner from Shepherd, Jarod Bowie from Concord, Newberry's Mario Anderson, Virginia Union's Jada Byers, Ouchita Baptist's TJ Cole, Nebraska-Kearney's TJ Davis and Ferris State's Caleb Murphy were selected from Super Region's 1-3.

The nine finalists will now be placed on the national ballot where all 178 of the division's school and conference SIDs will select the award's 36th winner.

The winner of the 2022 award will be announced on Friday, December 16 and the winner will be honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club awards banquet on Friday, January 13, 2023.

The Hill Trophy is named for the late Harlon Hill - the former University of North Alabama standout - who excelled with the Lions from 1950-53 before going on to fame in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears.
