Bemidji State put runners on base through each of the next four innings, including two in the fifth and seventh innings. In both innings BSU had runners in scoring position with one out but failed to move the runners. Parker Borg accounted for two of BSU's hits while the team went 0-of-5 from the plate with runners in scoring position.
John Perkins began game two with a walk to set up the first of two runs in the inning for the Beavers. Carter Simon recorded a single to move Perkins to second base before a throwing error on a steal attempt led to Perkins crossing home for the BSU lead. Simon followed two batters later to score on an RBI groundout by Sam Kalberer for a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the inning.
Rockhurst crossed four runs on four hits to quickly take the lead back in the home half of the first inning. Back-to-back walks to start the inning were followed by a two-RBI double down the left field line. RU added to its lead, 4-2, with another two-RBI double three batters later.
The BSU lineup was retired in order during three of its next four innings. The Beavers' final runs of the game came in the sixth inning as Jack Munson singled to drive in Kyle Ellis followed by a double steal to bring Borg home and cut the BSU deficit to one, 5-4.
