Beaver Track & Field adds to signing class with two distance runners

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University track & field and cross country Head Coach Kevin Kean announced that the program's signing class has grown by two with the additions of Josie Aitken and Callie Ressler.

All student-athletes' acceptances are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Josie Aitken, a mid-distance runner from Bemidji, Minn., is a letter winner in track & field and soccer at Bemidji High School under head coach Chris Lehman. She qualified for sections as a freshman and was part of a 4x400-meter relay team to place ninth at the Minnesota State Championships as a junior. Aitken was named a team captain for Spring 2022. She is also a letter winner in soccer.

Aitken was born May 24, 2004 to parents Larry and Polly Aitken. She plans to major in environmental science at BSU.

Callie Ressler, a distance runner from Fargo, N.D., is a letter winner in cross country and track & field at Fargo Davies High School under head coach Jason Edwards. She helped the Eagles to a North Dakota state runner-up finish in 2021 and holds a 5,000 meter personal record of 21:17.

Ressler was born April 29, 2004 to parents Larry and Tammy Ressler. She is a four-time academic letter winner and plans to major in nursing at BSU.

Aitken and Ressler join Maggie McCarthy, Molly Saboo, Nadia Vaughn as distance/mid-distance runners to commit to Bemidji State for the 2022-23 season.
