JAN PHYL VILLAGE, Fla. – The Bemidji State University softball team began play at The Spring Games in Florida this morning but fell to Cedarville University and Gannon University to begin its spring break trip. The Beavers (3-8) fell to Cedarville by a score of 5-2 and were then shutout by Gannon, 5-0.

Bemidji State will continue play in Florida tomorrow by facing Walsh University and Pittsburg State University at 9 and 11:15 a.m. CST.

The Beavers' lone runs of the day came against Cedarville when Alexa Christenson hit an RBI single and Elaina Christiansen drove in a run off of an error in the fifth inning of game one.

Bemidji State totaled 12 hits on the day including eight against Cedarville but were held to just four hits by Gannon's Ke DeMatteis who pitched six innings and struck out four. 

Sophomore Stella Dolan pitched all seven innings in game one against Cedarville and allowed five runs, all earned, off nine hits and earned two strikeouts to fall to 2-2 this season.

Redshirt sophomore Kyla Damerow fell to 0-3 this season after pitching all six innings in game two and allowed five runs, three earned, with two strikeouts.
