TUCSON, Ariz. (Kino Sports Complex) -- Bemidji State University baseball Head Coach Matt Ellinghuysen notched his first career victory with the program Monday afternoon during a 12-4 win over the University of Jamestown at the Tucson Invitational Games. Senior pitcher Logan Barrick threw a career-high nine strikeouts as the Beavers improve to 1-9 overall and the Jimmies fall to 8-7.

Bemidji State jumped ahead to a 3-0 lead after the top half of the first inning as BSU's first three batters recorded hits. Senior Sam Kalberer and sophomore Carter Simon tallied back-to-back RBI doubles while sophomore Jack Munson drove in the first of his four RBI.

After a fly out to left field to start the second inning, Bemidji State put five straight batters on base on its way to a 7-0 lead. Simon brought in freshman Hunter Daymond with his second RBI double in as many innings while Munson drove in two RBI on a single two batters later. Junior Tom Keohen extended the lead to seven with an RBI fielder's choice, scoring sophomore Zach Listiak.

Jamestown drove in its first run on a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning before cutting Bemidji State's lead to four with two runs in the third. Keohen tripled on a one-out pitch in the fourth inning to set up an RBI squeeze bunt by freshman Zach Moritz to push the lead back to five, 8-3.

Following one run by the Jimmies in the fifth inning, the Beavers reached four straight base-runners with two outs, including RBI singles by sophomore Gabe Davis and junior John Perkins. BSU's final runs came in the eighth inning on an RBI double by Munson and another RBI single from Davis.

Senior pitcher Logan Barrick (1-1) threw 5.2 innings with nine strikeouts and no walks while allowing three earned runs on nine hits. Junior Jake Matise and freshman Isaiah Biehn combined to throw the final 3.1 innings with four strikeouts and one walk with no runs allowed on two hits.

Bemidji State continues the Tucson Invitational Games Tuesday, March 8 at 2:30 p.m. against Park University-Gilbert. Live stats and live video will be available HERE.
