BEMIDJI, Minn. – In the final two home games of the 2022 season for the Bemidji State University softball team, the Beavers were swept by St. Cloud State University by scores of 1-0 and 6-1 Wednesday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.

The Beavers fall to 10-33 on the season and are now 7-17 in NSIC play.

In her final home start of her career, senior Kaidron McClafferty held the Huskies (32-15, 20-6 NSIC) to just one run off five hits and tied a career high with seven strikeouts. She pitched all seven innings for the Beavers for her eighth complete game of the season but falls to 4-13 on the season.

The Huskies scored their lone run in the game in the third inning off of a sacrifice fly while the Beavers' bats were also held to just five hits by SCSU pitcher Trinity Junker. Sophomore Molly Houts led the Beavers by going 2-for-3 with two singles.

Bemidji State held the Huskies to just one run through four innings and tied the game 1-1 with a solo home run from junior Emmarie Yeager in the bottom of the fourth but a two-run fifth inning followed by a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh powered the Huskies to a 6-1 victory in game two. 

The Beavers totaled just five hits in the game compared to 13 form the Huskies and were led by Yeager who batted 1-for-3 with the solo home run.

Sophomore Stella Dolan earned the loss in the circle and falls to 5-15 this season after she pitched 4.1 innings and allowed three runs, two earned, off seven hits. She was replaced by McClafferty who allowed one run off three hits in 0.2 innings followed by sophomore Kyla Damerow who pitched the final two innings and allowed two runs off three hits and struck out three. 

Bemidji State will hit the road quickly and travel to University of Minnesota, Crookston tomorrow for a doubleheader at 2 and 4 p.m.
