Box Score 2 BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University softball team fell in both games of its doubleheader at University of Sioux Falls Sunday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Beavers fell in game one to the Cougars 6-5 and then 8-0 in six innings in game two.
Bemidji State falls to 11-37 on the season and have been eliminated from postseason play.
The Beavers fell in walk-off fashion in game one against the Cougars after rallying from down three runs in the seventh but a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh gave USF the 6-5 win over the Beavers. Sioux Falls got up 2-0 early on the Beavers before BSU scored a run in the top of the fourth to make it 2-1. However, the Cougars followed with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to go up 5-1.
BSU added a run in the sixth to make it 5-2 and then rallied to tie the game with three runs in the seventh. USF then earned the walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh.
Junior Emmarie Yeager led the Beavers by going 3-for-4 with a double, home run, two RBI and two runs scored while freshman Mariah Stevenson was 2-for-4 with two doubles, a RBI and one run scored.
Sophomore Stella Dolan pitched all 6.1 innings and allowed six runs, five earned, off 11 hits and recorded five strikeouts to fall to 5-17 this season.
Sioux Falls then earned a 8-0 six inning victory in game two after Kaitlyn Van Der Zwaag held the Beavers to just four hits.
Senior Kaidron McClafferty pitched 5.1 innings and allowed seven runs, six earned, off 12 hits and fell to 5-14 this season.
The Beavers will conclude their 2022 season tomorrow afternoon with a road doubleheader at Southwest Minnesota State University scheduled to begin at Noon.
