MARSHALL, Minn. –  In its final doubleheader of the 2022 season, the Bemidji State University softball team fell in both games at Southwest Minnesota State University Monday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.

The Beavers fell to the Mustangs 4-1 in game one and were then shutout 1-0 in game two. Bemidji State ends its 2022 campaign with an 11-39 overall record and finished 12th in the NSIC standings with an 8-22 league record.

In game one, the Beavers totaled one run off five hits to fall to the Mustangs 4-1. BSU's lone run in the game came off a RBI single from junior Emmarie Yeager in the top of the first inning. The Mustangs then answered to score four-unanswered runs to win 4-1.

Yeager finished the game batting 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Beavers at the plate while sophomore Stella Dolan pitched all six innings and allowed four runs, two earned off eight hits and had one strikeout. She finishes the season with a 5-18 record.

In her last game as a Beaver, senior pitcher Kaidron McClafferty held the Mustangs to just four hits and one run in all six innings, however, the Beavers struggled at the plate and SMSU escaped with a 1-0 victory to earn the sweep. SMSU scored the lone run of the game in the bottom of the sixth after one-out triple eventually came in to score.

McClafferty ends her senior campaign with a 5-15 overall record while freshman Alexa Christenson and sophomore Molly Houts were the lone Beavers to record a hit in the game.
