MINOT, N.D. – The Bemidji State University Women's Soccer team responded following its loss earlier in the week by scoring three goals in the first half to cruise past Minot State University 3-0 Sunday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
Sophomore
Katrina Barthelt returned to the scoresheet after a two-match absence and recorded her second multi-goal performance of her career.
The Beavers wasted little time to get on the scoreboard after Barthelt booted in her first goal of the match in just the fourth minute of play. She added her second just six minutes later to score her NSIC leading ninth goal of the season.
Bemidji State extended its lead to three when
Halle Peterson scored her third goal of the season in the 21
st minute. Leading by three the Beavers then played shutdown defense and junior goalkeeper
Edie Frantzen helped the Beavers claim their seventh clean sheet with the 3-0 victory.
Frantzen totaled three saves in the game as the Beavers outshot Minot State 4-3.
Bemidji State now improves to 8-1-4 on the season and sit third in the league standings with 20 points and a 6-1-2 league record.
With just five matches left in the regular season, the Beavers now return home next weekend and will host Augustana University and Wayne State College at Chet Anderson Stadium.
