Bemidji State ends the 2022-23 season with St. Cloud State and No. 11 Minnesota Duluth

Beavers host Huskies on Thursday for final home game of the season

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Basketball team enters the final week of the 2022-23 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season by hosting St. Cloud State University and visiting No. 11 University of Minnesota, Duluth. The Beavers host the Huskies Thursday at 7:30 p.m., in the BSU Gymnasium before traveling to Duluth, Minn., for their final game of the season against the Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m.
 
The Series vs St. Cloud State
  • St. Cloud State leads the all-time series against Bemidji State, 49-18.
  • BSU and SCSU met early this year on Dec. 1, 2022 with a 68-42 win for St. Cloud State in St. Cloud, Minn.
  • The Huskies leads the series when played in Bemidji, Minn., 26-16. 
  • Bemidji State and St. Cloud State first met Jan. 1, 1969, with a win for BSU.
 
The Series vs Minnesota Duluth
  • Minnesota Duluth leads the all-time series against Bemidji State, 79-30
  • The Beavers and Bulldogs last met earlier this year on Dec. 3, 2022, with an 78-49 win by UMD in Bemidji, Minn.
  • Minnesota Duluth leads the series when played in Duluth, Minn., 40-4.
  • Bemidji State and Minnesota Duluth first met Jan. 1, 1968, with a win for BSU.
 
Fast Break Bemidji State
  • The Beavers battled in their games last weekend but were unable to come away with a win. Starting the weekend falling 54-62 to Northern State University then taking Minnesota State University, Moorhead to overtime but came up short 60-68.
  • Bemidji State kept the game close against Northern State and was up by two at half time but a late fourth quarter push lifted NSU to a victory.
  • The Beavers held a lead for 32 seconds in regulation against the Dragons but took them to overtime with a three pointer from Isabel Majewski with 13 seconds left in the game.
  • Two student-athletes recorded a double-double on the weekend. Trinity Yoder recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds against NSU and Alyssa Hill set career highs with 22 points and 13 rebounds to earn her fourth double-double of the season.
  • Yoder scored 21 points in both games on the weekend extending her season total to 369 points and averaging 15.4 points per game, ninth in the conference.
  • After weeks of sitting right below the cutoff for shot attempted, Hill now ranks fourth in the NSIC and 29th in Division II shooting a team high 54.3%.
  • Bemidji State sits 15th in the NSIC for scoring offense averaging 58.5 points per game and 13th in scoring defense allowing 68.8 ppg.
  • Sam Pogatchnik leads BSU in rebounds with 159 and Hill is right behind her with 148 rebounds. The pair rank 13th and 14th respectively in the NSIC. As a team the Beavers average 35.5 rebounds per game, 10th in the conference.
  • The Beavers recorded a season high nine blocks in the loss to MSUM, Rachel Koenig led the team with four.
  • BSU is 16th in field goal percentage (.375) and in 3-point field goal percentage (.261). 
  • The Beavers are 13th in turnovers averaging 16.4 per game and 13th in assist to turnover ratio.
 
Scouting St. Cloud State
  • Head Coach Lori Fish is in her 15th season with the Huskies (243-161).
  • SCSU (16-8, 13-7 NSIC) split weekend action falling to Minot State University 58-60 then defeating University of Mary 57-45.
  • SCSU averages 62.5 points per game, shooting 40.6% from the field and 34.6% from behind the arc.
  • Fifth year forward Katrina Theis leads the Huskies in both points (389) and blocks (22). In the game earlier this season Theis posted a double-double with 23 points and a season high 15 rebounds in the win against BSU.
 
Scouting Minnesota Duluth
  • Head Coach Mandy Pearson is in her seventh season with the Bulldogs (146-67).
  • UMD (22-3, 19-1 NSIC) added to its winning streak with two wins on the weekend coming against Mary 72-52 and Minot State 63-41.
  • Minnesota Duluth averages 68.0 points per game, shooting 46.0% from the field and 31.4% from behind the arc.
  • Graduate student Brook Olson leads the Bulldogs with 510 points and ranks 11th in Division II averaging 20.4 points per game. Olson has been named NSIC North Division Player of the Week three times this season with her most recent coming on Feb. 6.
