BEMIDJI, Minn. – The (RV) Bemidji State University Men's Hockey team is back on the road again this weekend for another long road trip to Michigan.The Beavers (11-12-5, 9-8-3 CCHA) travel to Ferris State University for a crucial two-game, Central Collegiate Hockey Association series beginning Friday, Feb. 10 at 6:07 p.m. CT. The Beavers and Bulldogs (11-13-4, 8-9-3 CCHA) will then meet again Saturday at 5:07 p.m. CT for the series finale.

Bemidji State Notes
- The Bemidji State and Ferris State series began in the first season of Division I Bemidji State Men's Hockey during the 1999-00 season meeting outside of College Hockey America (CHA) play.
- Ferris State holds a slight edge over the Beavers in the all-time series at 18-17-6 but the Beavers are 9-8-3 when playing in Big Rapids. The two teams first played for league points during the 2013-14 season when the teams met in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play. In conference play, Bemidji State is 13-9-6 against the Bulldogs.
- In the last 10 meetings, Bemidji State is 5-3-2 against the Bulldogs including going 1-0-1 in their first meeting of the season back on Nov. 4-5.
- In the season's first series between the two teams, BSU and FSU skated to a 2-2 tie after 65 minutes of play in game one of their series at Sanford Center. The Bulldogs earned the extra point in the league standings after earning the shootout victory. Game two would need overtime to declare a winner as well but fifth-year senior Ross Armour scored just 30 seconds into the three-on-three overtime to claim three points for the Beavers.
- With just six games remaining in the 2022-23 regular season, first round playoff matchups are starting to take shape. The Beavers currently six fourth in the standings with 31 points holding the final spot for home-ice advantage in the first round. However, the Bulldogs are right on their heels and are fifth in the standings with 30 points, one shy of the Beavers.
- A lot can still happen in the final games of the regular season but this weekend's series looks as if it will determine if the Beavers play at Sanford Center or hit the road for the first round of the CCHA Playoffs.
- Bemidji State and Ferris State have met just twice in the playoffs but haven't faced one another since the first round of the 2014 WCHA Playoffs. Ferris State won both playoff series by sweeping the Beavers 2-0 in the best-of-three series.
- Senior Elias Rosén leads all active skaters with nine points (9a) in 10 career games versus the Bulldogs while Armour (2g-1a), junior Aaron Myers (1g-2a) and senior Will Zmolek (3a) all follow with three points. Armour is the lone Beaver to score multiple goals against the Bulldogs after he scored the game-winning overtime goal in this season's earlier meeting.
- Armour also paces the team with a +4 rating on the ice against FSU.
- Sophomore Mattias Sholl has seen the most time in between the pipes versus FSU and in three starts, he has posted a 2.08 goals against average and .906 save percentage. However, he has yet to earn a win against the Bulldogs and is 0-2-1. Junior Gavin Enright follows with two games played and in 99:99 minutes he is 1-0-0 with a .912 save percentage and 1.80 goals against average. Senior Michael Carr has seen action in one game against the Bulldogs and is 1-0-0 after stopping 26-of-28 shots.
- The Beavers continue to receive votes in both the USAToday/USAHockeyMagazine and USCHO.com top-20 national polls for the seventh consecutive week. Ferris State is failing to receive votes in both polls
- Bemidji State moved down four spots to 32nd in this week's PairWise rankings after being swept by No. 12 Michigan Technological University last weekend. The Bulldogs are two spots in front of the Beavers at 30th.
- The Bulldogs are looking to carry momentum from last week after they took five-of-six league points at Bowling Green State University and pull within one point from the Beavers for fourth in the league standings.
- Ferris State is paced on offense by Stepan Pokorny who has totaled 18 points (6g-12a) in 27 games. He is followed by Jason Brancheau with 17 points who also leads the team in goals (10). A total of nine Bulldogs have reached double-digits in scoring this season.
- Freshman Tyler Schleppe follows Brancheau with eight goals in his rookie campaign.
- The Beavers will see sophomore goaltender Noah Giesbrecht between the pipes this weekend. Giesbrecht is 8-7-1 and is second in the CCHA with a .923 save percentage and fifth with a 2.55 goals against average.
- Ferris State is sixth in the CCHA with 70 goals this season one shy of the Beavers who sit fifth (71).
- The Bulldogs sit fifth in the league having allowed 88 goals while the Beavers are third by allowing just 73 goals.
- Ferris State has struggled on the power play and are last in the CCHA with a power-play percentage of .140. They have scored just 16 power-play goals which is tied for 48th in Division I.
- The Beavers rank fourth in the CCHA with a power-play percentage of .232 despite having the fewest power-play attempts in the CCHA and seventh fewest in DI. BSU is 17th nationally on the power play.
- Bemidji State is 0-for-6 over the last three games while on the power play.
- Bemidji State is 8-3-2 this season when scoring a power-play goal.
- Bemidji State's penalty kill has been less dominant than years past and is sixth in the league with a percentage of .791 (68-86) and are tied for 35th in DI.
- BSU went 3-for-4 on the penalty last weekend against Michigan Tech.
- The Bulldogs' penalty kill is fourth in the CCHA with a penalty kill percentage of .815.
- The Beavers are led by senior blueliner Elias Rosén and freshman Lleyton Roed who have each totaled 22 points in 28 games.
- Rosén paces the team with 20 assists which is fourth in the league while Roed is tied for the team lead with Armour with nine goals on the season.
- He is tied for 19th nationally in points (22) among defensemen and third in the CCHA.
- Freshman Lleyton Roed is having one of the best rookie campaigns in the CCHA and at BSU. He leads all league rookies in points (22) and has compiled the best rookie season at BSU since Rosén recorded 24 points in 35 games during the 2019-20 season
- He is a four-time CCHA Rookie of the Week and was named the CCHA Rookie of the Month for January and was recently named to the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) Tim Taylor Award "Watch List" as the nation's top rookie.
- Roed has points in seven of his last nine games totaling 10 points (3g-7a) over that stretch.
- Senior Will Zmolek has shutdown opposing forwards and leads the team and is fourth in the CCHA with 57 blocked shots. He has also contributed 16 points (2g-14a) offensively and has points in four of the last five games (5a).
- Fellow senior Kyle Looft follows Zmolek with 53 blocked shots and is fifth in the CCHA.
- Sophomore goaltender Mattias Sholl leads BSU netminders and is 8-8-5 with a 2.08 goals against average and .918 save percentage. He is third in the CCHA in both GAA and save percentage.
- Bemidji State is third in the CCHA by averaging 30.1 shots per game and allow 25.9 shots per game. The Beavers are 8-7-3 this season when outshooting their opponents and 6-6-2 when recording 30 or more shots.
- The Beavers are 7-5-3 when scoring the first goal this season and historically are 282-133-48 (.663) throughout their history.
- Bemidji State is undefeated when scoring three or more goals this season with a record of 10-0-1. However, the Beavers have scored three goals or more just twice over the last 10 games (2-7-1).
- Bemidji State is one of the least penalized team sin Division I and are second the nation with just 191 penalty minutes. The Beavers have had just 91 penalties called against them, 20 fewer than the next CCHA member Minnesota State.
- Fifth-year senior Ross Armour co-captains the team with senior defenseman Kyle Looft while senior Elias Rosén and senior Will Zmolek serve as alternates.
- Tom Serratore is in his 22nd season at the helm of the Bemidji State Men's Hockey program and owns a 365-339-97 career record (.520).
- Serratore will be coaching in his 802nd and 803 collegiate hockey games this weekend.
- He is 17-18-4 all-time coaching against the Bulldogs.Â
