BSU Baseball reverses sites for series with Minnesota Crookston

Beavers to face Golden Eagles in Crookston for three-game series

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Baseball Field isn't quite ready for the Beavers first home series of 2023 and this weekend's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference series with University of Minnesota, Crookston has been moved to the UMC Baseball Field in Crookston, Minn.
 
The Beavers and Golden Eagles will now play a three-game, league series beginning Sunday, April 16 with a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m., followed by game three Monday at Noon.
 
Minnesota Crookston enters the weekend action fifth in the NSIC standings with a 10-6 league record and are 20-14 overall. The Golden Eagles will play a doubleheader with St. Cloud State University prior to the weekend's series against the Beavers.
 
UMC is batting .313 as a team, the third-best batting average in the conference and its pitching staff have totaled an ERA of 4.76 to stand fourth. The Golden Eagles are led at the plate by junior Mike Hallquist who is batting .439 with a slugging percentage of .895, on-base percentage of .544 and an OPS of 1.439. He is second in the NSIC in batting average, leads the league in slugging, second in on-base and is the conference leader in OPS. He has collected 50 hits, tied for second in the NSIC, and has 13 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs and 40 RBI.
 
Five starters for the Golden Eagles are batting above .300.
 
On the bump, Minnesota Crookston is led by Jake Dykhoff who has pitched 50.1 innings and has posted a 4-4 record in eight appearances and has compiled an ERA of 4.29. He has held opponents to just a .219 batting average which ranks sixth in the NSIC while striking out 63 batters to also rank second. He is followed by Jake Osowski who is 5-1 with an ERA of 3.30 over 46.1 innings while Alex Koep has pitched 39.0 innings and is 4-1 with a 3.00 ERA.
 
The UMC pitching staff is tied for the DII lead for shutouts (7) so far this season.
 
Bemidji State travels west to Crookston for another road series yet again this season. The Beavers have yet to play a home series this season with 18 games on the road and 15 at a neutral site. The Beavers are 2-31 on the season (1-17 NSIC) and have lost their last 12 games. Over the last two seasons and 79 games, Bemidji State has played three games at the BSU Baseball Field because of lasting winter effects.
 
The Beavers are batting .232 as a team and have a team slugging percentage of .325 and on-base percentage of .338. BSU is led at the plate by junior Jack Munson who is batting .321 with 36 hits including seven doubles, three triples, five home runs and has driven in 21 runs. He leads the team with a .571 slugging percentage, .369 on-base percentage and .940 OPS.
 
The Beavers' pitching staff allows 12.41 earned runs per game and senior Logan Barrick leads the team with 37.0 innings pitched and is 1-2 in seven appearances with an ERA of 5.35. He has collected 26 strikeouts on the season for 108 career punch outs, seventh most in program history. He is followed by junior Will Lavin who has pitched 32.2 innings and is 1-5 with an ERA of 6.61 in seven appearances. He has totaled 41 strikeouts to lead the team and rank 11th in the NSIC. His 136 career strikeouts are tied for third-most at BSU and has a 10.37 k/9 average, the highest in program history.
