CABOT, Ark. – Playing on the big 7,392-yard Cypress Creek Golf Club course, the Bemidji State University Men's Golf team played 36 on Monday and are currently fifth with a 602 at the Natural State Golf Classic.
The Beavers carded rounds of 301-301 for their 602 to sit in fifth entering the final round. Bemidji State is just one shot back of Arkansas Tech in fourth with a 601 and two-strokes back of Southern Arkansas in third with a 600. Henderson State, the top-ranked team in the latest NCAA Division II Central Rankings, lead the 11-team field with a 587, nine shots clear of Harding. Arkansas Tech's Shaun Jones leads the individual field with a two-under 142 to hold a two-stroke lead.
Freshman Rylin Petry opened with a strong three-under 69 which was the lowest opening round in the field. He then carded a second round 77 for a two-over 146 to sit in fifth. Freshman Caden Lick had a big second round. After opening with a 78, he shot an even 72 in the second round for a six-over 150 to tie for 14th. Fifth-year Ben Corbid gives the Beavers three in the top-20 as he is tied for 19th after same rounds of 76-76 for an eight-over 152. Junior Jack Southard fired rounds of 80-76 for a 156 to tie for 32nd and sophomore Tanner Wanous came away with scores of 78-82 for a 160 and is tied for 47th. Freshman Logan Schoepp competed as an individual and is tied for 41st with rounds of 81-77 for a 158.
There were seven eagles on the day, with two Beavers in Petry and Lick each scoring one. Petry is tied for third in the field in pars with 26, with Corbid adding 24. Lick leads the Beavers in birdies with six, with Schoepp adding five.
Bemidji State will tee off the third and final round tomorrow (Tuesday) starting at 9 a.m. Live results will be available once again and can be found here.
