Bemidji State makes 22 stroke improvement to finish fifth at NSIC Preview

BSU Men’s Golf shoots 288 behind Cullen Ryan’s 69 on day two of NSIC Preview to finish fifth

SMITHVILLE, Mo. – The Bemidji State University Men's Golf team made a 22 stroke improvement on the second day of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preview Tuesday at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Mo., to finish fifth in the tournament. Junior Cullen Ryan tied a career-low shooting 69 on the final day of the tournament to lead the Beavers on day two.
 
Bemidji State finished with a team score of 598 (310-288) to come in fifth in the tournament that previews the NSIC Championships later this spring.
 
Ryan (79-69) and Teagan LaPlante (74-74) each led the Beavers and tied for 16th individually carding 148 in the tournament's two rounds. They were followed by Julius Arenkiel to shot 151 (77-74) to tie for 31st. Brogan Paschal tied for 47th with a 153 (82-71) while Logan Schoepp rounded out the Beavers' five scorers in the tournament shooting 155 (80-75).
 
Four Beavers also competed as individuals in the tournament. Charlie Williams led the group shooting 152 (75-77) while Ryan Schmit followed at 155 (79-76). Gavin Dahle shot 160 (84-76) and Ryan Nelson finished with 162 (83-79).
 
The Beavers will next compete at the Silverback Invite hosted by Pittsburg State University at the Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg, Kan., Mar. 30-31.
