Beavers remain at the top after two rounds at the NSIC Championship

Caden Lick leads the Beavers at three-over through day two

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Bemidji State University Men's Golf team remains in first after shooting a 295 (+7) on Saturday during day two of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship at the Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo. Caden Lick leads the Beavers through two rounds at 147 (74-73) and is tied for third overall.

Bemidji State finished round two one-stroke better than round one to lead the field at 591 (296-295) with one round remaining. Winona State University gained a stroke on the Beavers after shooting a 294 to sit alone in second three-strokes behind BSU. Concordia University-St. Paul rounds out the top-three at 595 (300-295). Gabe Goodman of WSU bounced to first overall after finishing three-under par in round two for a 140 overall and has a four-stroke lead over Kurt Lambert from CSP in second.

Following the first round that saw four Beavers tied for fifth, all five enter the final day in the top-10. After shooting four-over on the back nine, Lick followed it up with three birdies in a row for the best round of the tournament for BSU at 73 and is tied for third overall with a score of 147 (74-73). Lick has tallied the second-most birdies (9) through 36 holes, one behind the overall leader Goodman. The remaining four golfers; Ben Corbid, Rylin Petry, Jack Southard and Logan Schoepp all shot 74 on Saturday. Corbid, Petry and Schoepp have shot 74 both days to all be tied for fifth at 148. Southard improved two-strokes from round one and is tied for 10th at 150. Southard now leads the pack with the most pars through two rounds at 26. Schoepp (22) nd Petry (21) give the Beavers three sinking at least 21 pars through two rounds. Corbid (7), Petry (6) and Schoepp (5) all have solid birdie totals through 36 holes.

The Beavers wrap up the NSIC Championship tomorrow at the Adams Pointe Golf Club with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Live results will be available once again here.
