Beavers' Women’s Golf to compete at the three-day NSIC Championship

Bemidji State competes at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Mo. Friday through Sunday

SMITHVILLE, Mo. – The Bemidji State University Women's Golf team enters the postseason as it competes at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship in Smithville, Mo., at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex starting on Friday, Apr. 28. The Beavers enter the three-day tournament coming off the Wildcat Classic 10 days ago.

The Beavers last outing was at the Wildcat Classic in Wayne, Neb., at the Wayne Country Club where they finished 10th. Junior Mollie Albrecht led BSU in her last outing finishing 46th shooting 168 (83-85).

Albrecht has led the Beavers all season averaging 81.0 strokes per round. Her best finish this season was at the Tracy Lane Memorial winning it at eight-over par. Junior Maddy Sawyer is second on the team averaging 90.2 strokes per 18 holes this season. Sophomores Savannah Byfuglien and Vaida Behnke are neck and neck shooting 95.3 and 95.7 respectively. Rounding out the team is freshman Isabella Depew who has shot 100.4 per round.  

Bemidji State was able to compete in three tournaments this spring leading up to the NSIC Championship. Before Nebraska, the Beavers were able to play two tournaments in the same week in Arizona from Mar. 7-10. They also had one event canceled in Iowa at the beginning of April.

At last year's NSIC Championship that also took place in Smithville, Mo., the Beavers placed 13th with rounds of 373-389-382. They were just seven-shots back of MSU Moorhead in 11th and five-shots back of Minnesota Crookston in 12th. Albrecht paced BSU with a 267 to tie for 36th. Sawyer also competed in last year's championship posting a three-day total of 95-106-107 to place 60th.

BSU will tee off the NSIC Championship with the first round on Friday morning. Live results will be available throughout the event and can be found here.
