DES MOINES/INDIANOLA, Iowa – Mary Goodwin and Lexi Erickson got the chance to compete in Iowa at two different meets on Thursday. Goodwin continued her strong outdoor season in the steeplechase adding to her program record at the Drake Relays, while Erickson competed in the 1,500 at Kip Janvrin.
Goodwin improved her 3,000-meter steeplechase program record time crossing at 10:55.21 to come in 23rd overall in a loaded Drake Relays field. Goodwin trimmed over two more seconds off her previous best time that was set at Bryan Clay a few weeks ago. Goodwin's new time ranks 25th nationally and remains the second-best time in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Erickson ran in the 1,500 coming in with a time of 4:43.56 to place 16th in a field that featured 103 competitors at Kip Janvrin. It was the first time running in the 1,500 since Bryan Clay back on Apr. 13-15 when Erickson set the program record in the event at 4:38.65.
