Beavers post school record round of 277 to lead The Mule through 36 holes

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Bemidji State University Men's Golf team is riding high sitting alone in first after two rounds at The Mule that took place at the Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg, Mo., on Monday. In round one BSU shot six-over par (286) but followed that up shooting three-under (277) to hold first with one round left with a 563. The 277 is a new school record. The two rounds on the day are both the lowest of the season.

Bemidji State holds a two-stroke lead over second-place University of Central Oklahoma (565), with Missouri Western State University rounding out the top-three one-stroke back of UCO (566). The Beavers jumped three spots after round one with the second-best round two of 277 (-3), only behind UCO who shot 274 (-6) to jump 11 positions. Individually Marius Dosiere and Bennett Thomas from Missouri Western State and Winona State University, respectively share joint first-place at five-under par (135). Rylin Petry for BSU is continuing his hot streak one-stroke behind the pair to sit alone in third.

Petry is leading the first-place Beavers at 136 (69-67) at four-under par. Through 36 holes Petry leads the pack with 10 birdies. Ben Corbid is second on the Beavers after his strong second round of three-under par 67 brought his score to 141 (74-67) to be tied for 11th. Five eagles were hit through the first two rounds with three coming from BSU student-athletes with Corbid responsible for two and Jack Southard the other. Southard is third for Bemidji State at 143 (71-72), tying for 22nd. In his first outing competing with the top team this spring, Caden Lick is tied for 35th after shooting 145 (72-73). Rounding out the team is Logan Schoepp finishing day one at 148 (77-71) and tied for 58th.

As a team, Bemidji State was in the top-three of several statistical categories. In addition to leading the field in eagles, BSU is tied for second in par-five scoring average (4.88) and third in both par-three (3.22) and par-four (4.06). The Beavers are also third in the field with 115 pars and added 23 birdies.

The Beavers look to finish on top tomorrow when the third and final round of The Mule will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Live results will once again be available and can be found here.
