WINONA, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Men's Golf team finished day one of the NCAA Super Regional tied for 14th after shooting 297 (+13) at The Bridges in Winona, Minn., Thursday afternoon. Freshman Rylin Petry paced the Beavers at one-under par to be tied for seventh.
As a team Bemidji State is tied for 14th with the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 297 (+13). Leading the pack is Grand Valley State University shooting 276 (-8) after the first round and has an 11-stroke lead over second place. Individually Charles Delong and Drew Coble from Grand Valley State finished day one in first after shooting a 65 (-6). Nick Krueger from Grand Valley State and Brooks Baldwin from the University of Central Missouri are tied for third at three-under par. The Beavers are just five-strokes back of the top-six with the University of Central Missouri and Maryville University tied for sixth at 292.
Petry is continuing his tear this season leading the Beavers after shooting 70 (-1) through day one. Petry is tied for seventh with eight other golfers. Petry is tied for the lead in the field in par-four scoring at 3.73. Behind Petry is fifth-year Ben Corbid who finished at 72 (+1) and is currently tied for 21st. The pair of Petry and Corbid lead BSU in birdies with three, all coming on the same holes. Freshman Logan Schoepp is third on the team at four-over par (75), recording 14 pars, fourth most in the field. Freshman Caden Lick and junior Jack Southard finished at 80 (+9) through the first 18 holes.
The Beavers continue the three-day tournament tomorrow (Friday) with the second day of the NCAA Super Regional starting at 12:30 p.m. BSU will again be paired with Ferris State and the individuals in the field for Friday. Live results will once again be available here.
