BEMIDJI, Minn. – The (RV) Bemidji State University Women's Soccer team scored twice in the ninth minute to secure a 2-0 victory over St. Cloud State University Sunday afternoon at Chet Anderson Stadium to earn the Beavers their fourth consecutive victory.

The Beavers remain undefeated on the season improving to a 4-0-2 record and are 2-0-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.

Bemidji State pressured the Huskies (4-2-0, 2-1-0 NSIC) early on and its hard work paid off when sophomore
Katrina Barthelt attacked Husky goalkeeper Jaylee Strickland and poked the ball free and into the back of the net for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

The Beavers didn't stop their attack and just 42 seconds later, junior Mara Stocke found a loose ball at the top of the 18-yard mark and used the her left foot to beat Strickland just inside the right post to score her third goal of the season.

Bemidji State took the two-goal lead into the second half but was tested quickly when a Husky attacker was take down inside the penalty box to set up a penalty kick in the 50
th minute. However, facing the first penalty kick of her collegiate career, junior goalkeeper
Edie Frantzen withstood the test and denied Gracie Parsons to keep the shutout intact.

The Huskies continued their pressure and out-shot the Beavers 10-1 in the second half, but Frantzen and the Beavers' defense were up to the challenge and earned their league leading fourth shutout of the season.

St. Cloud State finished the game out-shooting BSU 18-10 but the Beavers totaled six shots on goal compared to four for SCSU. Frantzen finished the match stopping all four shots she faced including the penalty kick while Strickland totaled five saves.

Bemidji State will continue play at home when it hosts University of Sioux Falls Thursday, Sept. 21 at Chet Anderson Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., with the game broadcast live on NSICNetwork.com/bsubeavers.
