SALEM, Ore. – Mary Goodwin improved her program record in the 5,000 meter on Saturday to help lead the Bemidji State University Cross Country team at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational. The Beavers had both Maggie McCarthy and Carol Miller post new top 10 program record times in the 5k as well.
Goodwin now has a program record time of 18:37.7 in the 5k coming in 39th. McCarthy improved her time in the 5k coming in 19:13.5 for the fourth-best time in program history. She placed 63rd overall. Miller moved her time to eighth in program history in the 5k when she crossed at 19:47.7 to place 99th. Nadia Vaughn just missed adding her name inside the top 10 coming in with a time of 19:53.6 to place 111th. Hadley Stuehrenberg added a time of 20:56.2 to place 151st. Carmen Lyon was the next one in for the Beavers with a time of 21:21.9 to place 163rd. Callie Ressler came in 171st with a time of 21:47.7. Sydnie Price crossed at 22:12.6 to place 181st and Emma Hochhalter was right behind in 182nd with a time of 22:12.8.
Bemidji State placed 14th with 393 points to finish ahead of host Willamette. College of Idaho won the 23-team field meet with 62 points to hold off Seattle University in second place with 84 points. College of Idaho's Sage Martin won the individual title with a time of 17:17.9.
The Beavers will travel to North Dakota next Friday (Oct. 6) to compete in the Jimmie Invitational, which will be a 6,000 meter course, beginning at 4 p.m.
