SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Bemidji State University Track and Field team competed in the Twin Ports Open hosted by University of Wisconsin Superior Saturday, taking home multiple personal records in the process.
On the track,
Reese Turner took second in the 60-meter hurdles at 11.61 seconds and
Hailey Selly finished third in the 200-meter hurdles at 33.44 seconds. Beaver freshman
Sophie Rylance landed herself in second place in the women's one-mile run at five minutes and 19.53 seconds. A short time later, junior
Maggie McCarthy grabbed a personal record time at 5:30.23.
The Beavers dominated much of the field side of the meet with first- and second- place finishes in the pole vault and shot put.
Olivia Olson grabbed first in the pole vault at a height of 3 meters with
Chloe Knott just one place behind, grabbing a personal record, at 2.70 meters. Three Beavers landed in the top five in shot put with
Trista Bilden and
Mikenna Pattrin taking first and second with
Zayda Priebe holding the fifth spot. In the weight throw,
Maya Wagner found herself cracking the top five with a 12.70-meter throw.
Following this weekend's trip to Superior, the Beavers head to Moorhead, Minn. for the Cobber Open on Jan. 25 and to Grand Forks, N.D. on Jan. 31 for the University of North Dakota Open. Fast forward to the end of February, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship is set for Feb. 28 and Mar. 1 in Mankato, Minn.
