KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Three Bemidji State University soccer players have been selected to the 2025 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Scholar All-North/Central Team for their efforts on the pitch and in the classroom. Senior

Julia Freed and
Megan Ko on the list.
The three are among 11 in the North/Central region to earn recognition, which is comprised of Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. As a whole, 48 student-athletes were named to the list and five came from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be nominated by her head coach and have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average, play a minimum of 75 percent of games during the season of nomination and be an elite player as supported by playing honors such as All-American, All-Region and All-Conference. Juniors and above on the field are able to be nominated for the award.
Barthelt is finishing her degree in Exercise Science and holds a 4.00 grade point average. Freed also holds a 4.00 as a Wildlife Biology major and Ko has posted a 3.88 as a Business Administration and Spanish major.
The Beavers' three selections are no strangers to post-season academic accolades as the trio was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team and NSIC Fall All-Academic Team of Excellence earlier this year. Athletically, Freed and Ko were named to the USC All-Central Region Third Team and All-NSIC Second Team. Barthelt has accumulated 11 post-season awards, including this award, CSC Academic All-District and NSIC All-Academic Teams. She was named the D2CCA Central Region Player of the Year, All-Central Region First Team and All-America Third Team selection, USC All-Central Region First Team, All-NSIC First Team, NSIC Elite 18 Award and the NSIC's Outstanding Senior of the Year.
