(RV) Beavers return to CCHA play with road trip to (RV) Augustana

BSU Men’s Hockey hits the road to face Vikings

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The (RV) Bemidji State University Men's Hockey team closes out the first half of the 2025-26 season this weekend by traveling to (RV) Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D., to resume Central Collegiate Hockey Association play.
 
The Beavers (9-7-2, 7-1-2 CCHA) see the Vikings (7-5-1, 4-4-1 CCHA) for the second time this season, the first time facing an opponent for the second time this season. The two teams clash at Midco Arena in Sioux Falls beginning with game one at 7:07 Friday, Dec. 5. Game two is slated for 6:07 p.m., Saturday.
 
Each game will be exclusively streamed online at MidCo Sports Plus with Vikings Athletics providing play-by-play. Fans can also tune-in to a Beaver Radio Network broadcast for both games on the radio dial at 92.1 FM or online at www.beaverradionetwork.com.
 
Bemidji State Notes
  • This weekend's series will feature the highest scoring team in the CCHA against the best defensive team in the league.
  • Bemidji State leads the CCHA and is second in DI with 60 goals through 18 games (3.33) while Augustana paces the league and is fourth nationally with just 25 goals against in 13 games (1.92).
  • The Beavers are second in the league with a 0.7 scoring margin while the Vikings are third at 0.5.
  • Bemidji State has dominated CCHA play in the first half of the season ranking second in the league with 23 points (7-1-2), just one point shy of league leader Minnesota State.
  • For the first time since Nov. 1 and 33 days, the Beavers are not atop the CCHA standings sitting second  for the first time since CCHA play began on Oct. 24-25.
  • The Beavers return to CCHA action after battling regional rival and sixth-ranked University of North Dakota last weekend in a home-and-home series.
  • BSU fell in two highly contested games in the non-conference series with the sixth-ranked Fighting Hawks falling 3-5 in game one at Sanford Center and then fell 1-2 in overtime Saturday at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
  • Four Beavers scored in the series including Jake McLean who added an assist for two points and tied for the team lead with Max Namestnikov who tallied two assists.
  • In his first start since Nov. 15 (3 games) due to injury, freshman Max Hildebrand turned aside 28-of-30 shots in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss posting a .933 save percentage.
  • The Beavers brought November to an end where they went 5-3-1 during the month and 5-1-1 in conference play.
  • Senior Adam Flammang was scorching hot during November posting 11 points (4g-7a) during the month and was followed closely by junior Oliver Peer who had 10 points (6g-4a).
  • Junior netminder Raythan Robbins went 3-1-1 during the month posting a 2.37 GAA and .895 save percentage in five starts while Hildebrand went 2-2-0 with a 1.92 GAA and .923 save percentage in four starts.
  • The Beavers begin December where they historically have not fared well going 58-68-22 during the month in their DI era.
  • However, just two games are slated on BSU's schedule during the month as the Holiday break nears.
  • The Beavers second half of the season features eight home games, six road games and a home exhibition against University of Minnesota on Jan. 2.
  • Bemidji State is 6-3-0 at home this season and 3-4-2 on the road.
  • Bemidji State is second across all of Division I with 60 goals through the first 18 games of the regular season (Michigan - 92).
  • Bemidji State's Adam Flammang and Oliver Peer rank t-9th and t-14th in Division I with 21 and 19 points, respectively.
  • Flammang paces the Beavers with 21 points off six goals and 15 assists despite missing two games due to injury. His 1.31 points per game average is t-12th among DI skaters appearing in 10 games or more.
  • Flammang is the fastest Beaver to reach the 20-point mark since Owen Sillinger recorded 21 points through the team's first 14 games in 2021-22.
  • Flammang has achieved a career high in points (21) and assists (15) in just 16 games into his senior season and is three goals shy of tying a career best.
  • He is followed closely by junior Oliver Peer who has 19 points (10g-9a) in 18 games.
  • Peer has scored in seven-of-16 games and his 0.51 goals per game average is the sixth best single-season average in BSU's DI era.
  • Flammang and Peer are joined on a line with junior Kasper Magnussen who is third on the team with 17 points (7g-10a).
  • The line of Flammang, Peer and Magnussen has combined for 57 points and 23 goals scoring 38.3-percent of the team's goals.
  • That line has scored at least one goal in 14 of the team's 18 games and ranks fourth among the NCAA DI Men's Hockey top lines.
  • Bemidji State has 18 skaters who have scored a goal this season including five with five or more boasting the team's depth.
  • Seven skaters have 10 or more points for the Beavers.
  • Senior Connor McClennon leads the team with six points (5g-1a) over the last five games including a four-goal effort Nov. 21.
  • Five Beavers have at least five or more points over the last five games including Peer, Magnussen and Flammang as well as freshman Max Namestnikov (1g-4a).
  • Namestnikov recently had a four-game point streak snapped on Nov. 29, the third longest point streak by a Beaver this season.
  • Namestnikov is tied for the CCHA lead and 13th nationally among freshmen with 13 points (4g-9a).
  • Flammang ranks t-2nd in the CCHA in points while Peer follows in fourth and Magnussen is tied for fifth.
  • Peer is second in the CCHA in goals while Magnussen is t-5th and Flammang is t-9th.
  • Flammang's 15 assists are second most in the league.
  • Peer is tied for the CCHA lead with three game-winning goals.
  • Senior Reilly Funk leads the CCHA with 384 faceoffs taken and is .482 on the draw.
  • Peer leads the team with a .515 faceoff winning percentage in 293 faceoffs.
  • Freshman Maxon Vig paces all CCHA skaters with a on-ice rating of +14 which is tied for ninth in DI and tied for second among all DI freshmen.
  • Sophomore Hudson Thornton leads the Beavers blueline with 10 points (2g-8a) and is third among CCHA defensemen. He is third among CCHA skaters with a time on ice average of 23:54 according to collegehockeynews.com.
  • Bemidji State has split time between pipes between Robbins and Hildebrand who have each made nine starts.
  • Robbins paces the team with a 5-2-2 record, 2.30 GAA and .908 save percentage while Hildebrand is close behind with a 4-5-0 record, 2.91 GAA and .894 save percentage.
  • In just conference games, the two have combined for a 1.94 GAA and .912 save percentage with Robbins leading the way with a 4-0-2 record in six league starts and 1.94 GAA.
  • The two rank third and fourth, respectively, in GAA among league goaltenders in conference play while Hildebrand is fifth with a .921 save percentage.
  • The Beavers' power play is third in the CCHA and 27th in DI with a power-play percentage of .212 (14-of-66).
  • BSU's penalty kill is fifth in the league at .768 (53-of-69).
  • Bemidji State and Augustan faceoff against one another for the second time this season after opening CCHA play on Oct. 24-25.
  • BSU is 6-3-0 all-time against the Vikings and earned two victories in their last series held at Sanford Center.
  • The Beavers opened that series with a 1-0 overtime win over the Vikings and then followed with a 3-2 victory in game two.
  • The Beavers and Vikings series has been historically close as well with BSU holding a slight 24-23 advantage in goals scored.
  • Bemidji State is 3-2-0 when playing at Midco Arena and last faced the Vikings in Sioux Falls on March 7-9, 2025 in the first round of the CCHA Playoffs last year.
  • Seniors Adam Flammang (3g-4a) and Vince Corcoran (2g-5a) lead the Beavers with seven career points against the Vikings.
  • Junior Raythan Robbins earned his first collegiate shutout, a 27-save performance, in the Beavers and Vikings first meeting this season.
  • Head coach Tom Serratore is 6-3-0 when coaching against the Vikings.
  • Bemidji State is receiving votes in the USCHO.com Top-20 national poll for the sixth time this season and is receiving votes in the USA Hockey College Hockey Poll for the second straight week.
  • 2025-26 is the 70th season of Beaver Hockey and its 27th season in Division I.
  • Head Coach Tom Serratore is in his 25th season leading the Beaver Hockey program and is tied with Rico Blasi of University of St. Thomas as the most tenured coach in the CCHA.
  • Serratore is the sixth-most tenured coach among active coaches in Division I and is ninth among active coaches with 412 career wins.
  • Serratore is 37th all-time in NCAA DI Men's Hockey with 412 career wins.
  • He recently coached in his 900th career game on Nov. 21.
  • He is an eight-time conference Coach of the Year and the second winningest coach in Beaver Hockey history (R.H. "Bob" Peters).
  • Serratore returns a veteran group from the 2024-25 season as 18 skaters make their return to the squad while 10 newcomers look to make their green and white debut.
  • Bemidji State returns seven of its 10 leading scorers from last season including top point-getter and 2025-26 captain, Kirklan Irey.
  • Irey captains the Beavers during the 2025-26 season after he led the Beavers in points with 24 (11g-13a).
  • 10 newcomers were brought in for a total roster size of 28 (15-F, 10-D, 3-G).
  • Vincent Labelle, Connor McClennon, Hudson Thornton, Vann Yuhas, Oliver Peer, Max Hildebrand, Max Vig, Ben Vigneault, Oscar Karlsson and Max Namestnikov all look to make their debut for Bemidji State this season.
  • Three newcomers come from the USports league of Canada (Labelle, McClennon, Peer), one from the ECHL (Thornton), one NCAA transfer (Yuhas) and five from junior hockey leagues (Hildebrand-WHL, Vig-USHL, Vigneault-QMJHL, Karlsson-J20 Nationell, Namestnikov-OHL).
  • Freshman Maxon Vig highlights the Beavers' newcomers after he was drafted 209th overall (7th Round) of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He is the seventh Beaver to be drafted into the NHL and first since Eric Pohlkamp (2023).
  • Vig joins Pohlkamp (fifth round - San Jose - 132nd), Radoslav Illo (fifth round - Anaheim - 136th), Chris Peluso (seventh round - Pittsburgh - 194th), Andrew Murray (eighth round - Columbus - 242nd), Gary Sargent (third round - Los Angeles - 48th) and Dale Smedsmo (seventh round - Toronto - 93rd) as Bemidji State NHL draft picks.
  • Bemidji State's roster primarily consists of those hailing from Canada as 50-percent claim roots from our northern neighbors.
  • 14 call Canada home while 11 are from the United States and three from Europe.
  • Bemidji State has the most Canadians (14) on its team since the 2016-17 season.
  • Irey is the 65th captain in Beaver Hockey history and is joined by Vince Corcoran, Adam Flammang and Mitch Wolfe who will serve as alternates.
  • The Beavers were voted to finish sixth in the CCHA Preseason Coaches' Poll after garnering 54 points in the poll and Parekh was selected as a CCHA Preseason All-CCHA Team member.
  • By average, Bemidji State is one of the smallest teams in Division I Men's Hockey tying with Lake Superior State, Mercyhurst and Quinnipiac with an average height of 5'11.6".
