BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Hockey team makes its final road trip of the 2024-25 regular season this weekend and travels to (RV) University of St. Thomas for a two-game, Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.

The Beavers (5-25-1, 3-21-0 WCHA) are hoping to pick up a pair of wins against the Tommies (8-20-2; 5-18-1 WCHA) for a positive note before the regular season finale. Each game in the WCHA series will be at Saint Thomas Ice Arena with game one Friday at 7:00 p.m. Game two will follow Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Bemidji State Notes
- Bemidji State travels to (RV) St. Thomas for the second of their regular season series.
- The Beavers make their final road trip of the regular season.
- Just four games remain in the regular season with BSU ending the regular season at home against No. 1 University of Wisconsin, Feb. 21-22.
- The Beavers are hoping to earn their first road wins of the season and end a 21-game road losing streak dating back to Dec. 9, 2023.
- Bemidji State is 0-13-0 on the road this season.
- The Beavers are hoping to bounce back from their series with No. 6 Minnesota Duluth falling to the Bulldogs twice by scores of 2-0 and 6-0 at Sanford Center.
- The Beavers are eighth in the WCHA standings with eight points (3-21-0) while St. Thomas is seventh with 17 points (5-18-1) entering the weekend.
- Bemidji State is 8-5-1 all-time against the Tommies but are 2-4-0 when facing UST on the road.
- The Beavers are on a five-game unbeaten streak versus the Tommies and are 4-0-1 over the last five series meetings.
- Bemidji State and St. Thomas met earlier in Bemidji with BSU earning a sweep of the Tommies by scores of 4-1 and 4-3.
- Sophomore Kate Johnson led the Beavers recording four points (1g-3a) in the series with junior Raeley Carney (2g-1a) and sophomore Talya Hendrickson (1g-2a) each adding three.
- Sophomore Hailey Armstrong scored twice in the series and led the team with 10 shots on goal.
- Freshman Kaitlin Groess started both games in net and posted a 2.00 goals against average and .933 save percentage after making 56-of-60 saves over the weekend.
- The pair of wins were also a the first WCHA victories for first-year head coach Amber Fryklund.
- Three Beavers lead the team recording five points in their careers against the Tommies. Makenna Deering (2g-3a), Shelby Breiland (2g-3a) and Kate Johnson (2g-3a) all have five points against UST.
- Sophomore Eva Filippova leads BSU netminders with a 2-0-1 record in three starts versus St. Thomas and has been excellent boasting a .958 save percentage and 1.30 goals against average.
- Groess follows with a 2-0-0 record, .933 save percentage and 2.00 goals against average.
- The Beavers are led by its underclassmen with seven of their top-10 scorers either freshmen or sophomores.
- Freshman Morgan Smith paces the Beavers with 16 points (8g-8a) while sophomore Hailey Armstrong and redshirt freshman Isa Goettl are close behind with 15 points each.
- Smith and Armstrong are each tied for the team lead with eight goals while Goettl's nine assists leads the team.
- Six of Smith's eight goals have come on the power play which is tied for the third most in a single season in Bemidji State's history and is the most power-play goals in a season since the 2011-12 season.
- Smith's 16 points are the most points in a season for BSU since the 2021-22 season.
- Smith also leads the Beavers with nine power-play points (6g-3a) while Goettl (2g-4a) and Deering (1g-5a) follow with six.
- The Beavers are seventh in the WCHA with a power-play percentage of .156 (12-of-77).
- Bemidji State continues to be one of the top teams in the nation at blocking shots leading the WCHA and third in Division I with 510 blocked shots.
- Three of the league's top five shot blockers are Bemidji State Beavers including sophomore Riley Reeves who leads the league and is third in the nation with 80 blocked shots.
- Freshman Kaitlin Groess is the Beavers' leading netminder posting a 3-14-0 record with a 3.44 goals against average and .900 save percentage in 17 games this season.
- She has split time during the second half of the season with sophomore Eva Filippova who is 1-9-0 with a .888 save percentage and 3.64 goals against average and started both games last weekend.
- Senior Alyssa Watkins was voted by her peers to captain the team during the season and is the 40th team captain in the program's history. She is joined by senior Genevieve Hendrickson and junior Mya Headrick who will serve as alternate captains.
- The Beavers' roster consists of 17 Minnesotan's, 19 from the U.S., five from Canada, and three from Europe.
- 2024-25 is the 27th season in Bemidji State Women's Hockey history and the program is 280-567-81 (.346) in 926 games played.Â
