Noah Quinn scored 6:10 into the third period to send the Beavers to overtime against No. 17/14 Minnesota State University, Mankato Friday night at Mayo Clinic HSEC. Neither team could score in the three-on-three overtime and ended in a 1-1 tie but Beaver captain
Jackson Jutting scored the lone goal in the shootout to earn the Beavers the extra point in Central Collegiate Hockey Association standings.

The Beavers extended their unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1) and sit sixth in the CCHA standings with 36 points heading into the final game of the regular season. BSU could finish between sixth or eighth in the standings and will spend the first round of the Mason Cup Playoffs on the road.

Goaltenders stole the show in the first game between the Mavericks (22-8-3, 17-5-3 CCHA) and Beavers (13-15-5, 10-11-4 CCHA). Bemidji State senior netminder
Mattias Sholl was dominant and turned aside 32-of-33 shots he faced including 18 in the third and overtime periods. Minnesota State's Alex Tracy held the Beavers scoreless through the game's first 46 minutes before Quinn's game-tying goal and finished the game with 26 saves.

Minnesota State had a quick start to the game scored 2:22 in with a goal from Kaden Bohlsen.

Sholl and the Beavers settled from then on and denying the Mavericks on their next 31 shots to keep the Beavers within striking distance. BSU finally broke through 6:10 into the final frame when Quinn scored his fourth goal in five games while on a streaking Beaver power play. The Beavers have now scored seven power-play goals over their last five games and are 12
th in Division I on the power play.

Each goaltender locked down the rest of the period and the three-on-three overtime. The teams first two shooters were each denied in the shootout but Jutting flew down and came in with speed on Tracy and scored the lone shootout goal to hand the Beavers two points.

The Beavers will attempt at their third consecutive five-point weekend tomorrow night for game two against the Mavericks. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:07 p.m.
