HOUGHTON, Mich. – In a wild back-and-forth affair, the Bemidji State University Men's Hockey team prevailed in overtime to defeat (RV) Michigan Technological University 6-5 Saturday night at MacInnes Student Ice Arena and claim the Winter Carnival trophy from the Huskies.

The win earned the Beavers a coveted two points in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association series moving their weekend total to five as the 2024-25 regular season end draws near. The win was also win 399 for head coach
Tom Serratore who seeks to become the 41
st member of the 400 wins club in Division I men's hockey.

Senior captain
Jackson Jutting scored his second overtime winner of the season after scoring the game-winning goal with 1:33 to play in the three-on-three overtime. Sophomore
Kasper Magnussen led the Beavers recording his second career two-goal night with two power-play tallies.

For the second consecutive, night the Beavers had five different skaters score in the game and scored a season-high six goals. Senior
Mattias Sholl earned his second consecutive victory after making 21 saves for the Beavers.

The Beavers' power play was a key contributor going 3-for-4 in the game and scoring three power-play goals in a game for the first time since Dec. 15, 2023.

Freshman
Alexi Sylvestre started the scoring for the Beavers with his first collegiate goal halfway through the first period.

The Beavers then scored their first power-play goal of the game from
Kasper Magnussen just 22 seconds later.

BSU added another power-play goal before the end of the first period when Noah Quin scored with 2:07 remaining in the frame.

Magnussen netted his second goal of the game and fourth goal in three games 9:39 into the third period while freshman
Jaksen Panzer scored his second goal of the season with 3:31 to play.

The teams would head to overtime locked in a 5-5 battler and with 1:23 left in the extra frame, Jutting went end-to-end and scored the game-winning goal.

The Beavers now carry the weekend's momentum into their final bye week of the season and prepare for their final home series of the regular season Feb. 21-22 when they host Bowling Green State University at Sanford Center.
