BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Baseball team gets its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season underway this weekend with a road trip to (RV) Augustana University. The Beavers face the Vikings for a four-game league series at Ronken Field in Sioux Falls, S.D., beginning Saturday, March 8.

The Beavers (1-5, 0-0 NSIC) and Vikings (5-3, 2-2 NSIC) open their series Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with a nine-inning game. The teams will then play a doubleheader Sunday beginning with a seven-inning game at 1:00 p.m. BSU and Augie will then play game four Monday at Noon.

Bemidji State is coming off opening its 2025 season last week going 1-5 against University of Wisconsin-Parkside and William Jewell College in Kensosha, Wis., and Liberty, Mo. The Beavers started the season splitting their doubleheader with the Rangers taking game one 3-1. However, the Cardinals earned a four-game series sweep over the weekend.

Senior
Derek Hoffman dominated in his first start of the 2025 season and earned his first collegiate win after holding the Rangers to just one run over six innings. He sent down 16 of the 24 batters he faced collecting eight ground outs, five fly outs and struck out three in 84 pitches. He is eighth in the NSIC with an earned run average of 1.50.

In the bullpen freshman
Matt Greiner has been dominant pitching in relief. He has made three appearances already and in 3.2 innings of work, he has not surrendered a run and allowed just one hit. He has struck out five of the 12 batters he has faced.

At the plate, junior
Noah Drusch paces the team with a .300 batting average. H has six hits in 20 at bats and his 15 total bases leads the team. Five of his six hits have been extra-base hits including a team-high three doubles and is tied for the team lead with two home runs. Senior
Zach Evenson follows batting .273 with six hits. He is tied with Drsuch and
Chris Lubchuk with two home runs and leads the team with seven RBI.
