BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Softball travels to Wayne State University and No. 14 Augustana University April 12 and 13 for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference double headers.
The Beavers, coming off a split, mid-week double header against University of Minnesota Crookston, enter the weekend at 16-24 overall and 3-13 in the NSIC. The Beavers are led by seniors
Aimee Christenson,
Mariah Stevenson and
Molly Houts, with all three batting over .300. Christenson leads the charge with a .360 batting average in 100 at bats with 18 runs and 36 hits. Stevenson has posted a .331 average and Houts is sitting at .309.
On the mound,
Kennedy Joachim has claimed the top spot for BSU, marking a 10-8 record and 2.63 ERA. In her 20 appearances, she's marked 17 starts and 14 complete games over 119.2 innings pitched. Joachim has allowed opponents a .257 batting average. Behind Joachim,
Payton Prissel takes up the second spot with a 4.52 ERA and 3-5 record. She has pitched 52.2 innings with an opposing batting average of .308.
The Wildcats have posted a 23-16 overall record and hold eighth in the conference at 8-7. WSC is led at the plate by Emilee Marth with a .348 batting average in 39 starts. She has grabbed 40 hits in 115 at bats with 14 doubles and one home run, plus 21 runs and 23 RBIs. Kennadi Borngrebe is the Wildcats' top pitcher with a 12-6 record in 20 appearances. She has grabbed an ERA of 1.59 in 101 innings against 362 at bats. Borngrebe has held opponents to a batting average of just .191.
The nationally-ranked Vikings share the top spot in the NSIC with a 15-3 conference record and 33-9 overall. The Vikings are currently on an eight-game winning streak and will host Minnesota Crookston Saturday before hosting the Beavers. AU boasts five players with batting averages of .300 or higher, led by Desi Cuevas at .379. In her 42 starts, Cuevas has grabbed 50 hits in 132 at bats with 45 runs, 33 RBIs, 11 doubles, a pair of triples and nine home runs. Grace Glanzer and Lexi Lander take the top two pitching spots, going 16-6 and 14-3, respectively. Glanzer has marked an ERA of 1.27 with Lander at 1.62.
The Beavers will return home next Friday for a double header against the Minot State University Beavers at 1 and 3 p.m. They'll then celebrate the senior class of
