BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Baseball team is set to make its debut at home this week as the Beavers host University of Minnesota Duluth for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader at the BSU Baseball Field Thursday, April 10.

The Beavers are set to host their first games at home for the 2025 season after winter weather forced their originally scheduled doubleheader in Duluth, Minn., to be moved to Bemidji where warmer weather and field conditions are favorable.

The Beavers (3-23, 2-18 NSIC) and Bulldogs (13-16, 9-11 NSIC) begin their conference doubleheader Thursday with first pitch for game one scheduled at 1:30 p.m. The teams will play a scheduled seven inning outing in game one followed by nine innings in game two.

The Beavers are looking to build off a 1-3 weekend at University of Sioux Falls while the Bulldogs are coming off a 1-3 series at Wayne State College. Bemidji State was led by sophomore first baseman
Matt Filippi in its series against the Cougars. Filippi batted .538 over four games collecting seven hits in 13 at bats with one double, two walks and he drove in three runs while coming in to score three himself. He was also a force on the basepaths going 5-for-6 in the series in stolen bases. He finished the weekend with a 1.215 OPS after combining a .615 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage.

Filippi also leads the Beavers at the plate batting .276 on the season collecting 21 hits in 76 at bats including two doubles and two home runs. When reaching, Filippi has stolen 11 bases this season, seventh-most in the NSIC and has a hit in his last five games.

He is followed by sophomore shortstop
Beau Thoma who is batting .270 with 20 hits in 74 at bats and has hit a team-high seven doubles on the season. Senior
Zach Evenson leads the team with a .488 slugging percentage and is tied for ninth with six home runs. He has reached base in a team-high 14 straight games and also leads the team driving in 14 runs.

On the mound, senior
Brandon Lind leads the Beavers' starters pitching 26.1 innings and has compiled a 4.78 ERA. He is 2-0 over his last two starts with a 2.63 ERA, 16 strikeouts and just four walks. He is tied for 12
th in the NSIC with 35 strikeouts on the season and his 12.18 strikeouts/nine innings is the highest by a BSU pitcher since 2007.
