Beaver student-athletes continue tradition of academic success at Bemidji State

390 BSU student-athletes combine for 3.47 grade-point average in 2024-25

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Department of Athletics is proud to announce the success of its 390 student-athletes in the classroom during the 2025 Spring term and cumulative 2024-25 year at Bemidji State. Its 390 student-athletes combined for a 3.47 grade-point average during the Spring semester and also achieved a 3.47 GPA for the cumulative 2024-25 school year.
 
"Once again, our student-athletes have proven that the pursuit of academic excellence is strong here at Bemidji State," said Director of Athletics Britt Lauritsen. "They are consistently finding the transferable skills from athletics - time management, organization, teamwork, discipline, effective communication, focus, and problem solving - and utilizing those to make an impact in the classroom. We are proud of the ways in which our Beavers are preparing themselves to be excellent leaders and lifelong learners in their lives after sport." 
 
The Bemidji State Women's Hockey team led the department achieving a 3.85 team GPA during the Spring term ending the school year with a department-high 3.84 cumulative GPA. The Beaver Women's Hockey team also set a record achieving the highest team GPA at BSU since data was tracked in 2009-10. Bemidji State Volleyball followed with a 3.74 GPA in the spring improving their GPA nearly six points from the Fall (3.16).
 
Bemidji State Men's Hockey led the men's teams with a 3.60 GPA in the spring and finished with a 3.74 cumulative GPA to finish second among all teams at Bemidji State. The Beaver Men's Hockey team also achieved the highest men's GPA at BSU since 2009-10.
 
All 15 teams at BSU earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the year while 57-percent of student-athletes achieved a 3.5 or higher. 88 student-athletes earned a 4.0 in both the Fall and Spring terms.

Located on the shore of Lake Bemidji, Bemidji State University sponsors 15 varsity athletic programs with NCAA Division I men's hockey in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and women's hockey in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, while its 13 NCAA Division II programs hold membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
