Beavers get back on the court with Minnesota Duluth Saturday

Beavers and Bulldogs kick off 2026 in Bemidji Saturday

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University kicks off the 2026 half of the season with the University of Minnesota Duluth Saturday afternoon. The Beavers will host the Bulldogs with a 3:30 p.m. tipoff from the BSU Gymnasium.
 
Bemidji State Notes
  • The Beavers enter the weekend at 6-5 overall with a 3-4 record in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The team enters the year off a three-game losing streak that began on Dec. 13 with a 62-55 loss at Northern State University.
  • When Bemidji State and Minnesota Duluth met earlier this season, Kassandra Caron led the team with 24 points, scoring 38 percent of the Beavers' points. She shot nine-for-nine from the free-throw line and 7-19 from the field. Caron added five rebounds, one assist, one block and three steals. She is currently ranked 18th in the NCAA for free throws with a total of 59 this season, sitting in 19th for free-throw attempts with 77.
  • Evyn Eppinga also surpassed the double-digit scoring mark against UMD with 15 points, shooting .438 from the field. 
  • Aubrey Heyer led the team under the rim with 12 rebounds, 10 defensive and two on offense. She added an assist and a block alongside her seven points. 
  • The Beavers are shooting at 41.2 percent from the field and 30.9 percent from the arc. They average 31.7 rebounds per game and 10.6 assists. BSU also averages 13.4 turnovers per game. 
  • Bemidji State is back in action next week at the BSU Gymnasium Jan. 9 and 10 against Southwest Minnesota State University and the University of Sioux Falls. 
 
Minnesota Duluth Notes
  • The 9-2 Bulldogs are at a perfect 7-0 in the NSIC, holding first in the North Division and second overall behind Minnesota State University Mankato who boasts a 13-0 overall record. 
  • When the Beavers and Bulldogs met earlier this season, Myra Moorjani led the Bulldogs with 18 points. She shot 8-18 from the field and 2-9 from the arc. Additionally, Moorjani grabbed five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and three steals. 
  • In the last match up, UMD grabbed 17 second-chance points and six from fast breaks. They earned 44 points in the paint and 22 points off turnovers. 
  • After this weekend's start to the 2026 portion of the season, the Bulldogs host USF and SMSU on Jan. 9 and 10, alternating with BSU.  They'll then head on the road Jan. 16 and 17 to take on MSU and St. Cloud State University before returning home once again towards the end of January.
