Beavers renew 51-year rivalry with Mavericks this weekend in Mankato

BSU Men’s Hockey travels to face No. 16 Minnesota State for lone regular season matchup

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State Men's Hockey team makes its final road trip of the 2025-26 regular season this weekend and travels to face long-time rival No. 16 Minnesota State University, Mankato at Mayo Clinic HSEC in Mankato, Minn.
 
The Beavers (11-16-3, 9-10-3 CCHA) look to build off a series split last weekend as the CCHA Mason Cup Playoffs begin in just three weeks. The Beavers battle the Mavericks (15-8-5, 11-6-3 CCHA) for a two-game, Central Collegiate Hockey Association series beginning with game one Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:07 p.m. Game two is then Saturday at 6:07 p.m.
 
Each game will be exclusively streamed online at MidCo Sports Plus with Maverick Athletics providing play-by-play. Fans can also tune-in to a Beaver Radio Network broadcast on the radio dial at 92.1 FM or online at www.beaverradionetwork.com.

  • Bemidji State hits the road for the final time during the 2025-26 regular season this weekend.
  • The Beavers aim to improve on their 4-8-3 road record. The Beavers are also 2-5-3 on the road against CCHA opponents this season.
  • The Beavers and Mavericks renew a 51-year rivalry this weekend since their first meeting in 1974.
  • BSU and MSU meet just once during the 2025-26 regular season which has not happened since the 2012-13 season back when the two teams competed in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
  • Minnesota State is BSU's most familiar opponent in its 70-year existence clashing for 152 all-time meetings.
  • The Mavericks hold a slight edge over the Beavers in the all-time series holding a 71-64-17 record and are unbeaten in the last four meetings (3-0-1).
  • The home team is heavily favored in the all-time series with Minnesota State 42-22-12 (.632) when hosting BSU and the Beavers are 41-28-5 (.589) when hosting the Mavericks.
  • In his 25 seasons, head coach Tom Serratore is 24-48-6 when coaching against the Mavericks.
