BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Softball travels to Rosemont, Ill. this week to take part in the annual Lewis Dome Invitational, hosted by Lewis University.
The Beavers start their weekend at 9 a.m. Thursday with a matchup against the Ferris State University Bulldogs. Day one also has a 1:30 p.m. matchup against Purdue University Northwest on the docket. On day two, the Beavers get a later start with Roosevelt University at 11 a.m. followed by Hillsdale College at 3:30 p.m. The tournament concludes Saturday with the Beavers taking on former Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponent, turned Great Lakes Valley Conference member, Upper Iowa University at 9 a.m. and tournament hosts Lewis University at 11 a.m.
BSU started its season two weeks ago at the Kelly Laas Memorial Tournament in St. Cloud, Minn. The Beavers started with an extra-inning matchup against Concordia University, St. Paul, but ended up going 0-4 on the weekend. BSU batted .255 on the weekend with 10 runs, 25 hits, two doubles and a home run. They added nine stolen bases on 11 attempts.
Next week, the Beavers head to Shawnee, Kan. for the Top Gun Midwest College Classic. They will play in another six games before heading to Melbourne, Fla. for the Space Coast Spring Games Mar. 6-11. Conference action kicks off with the Beavers scheduled to host Augustana University and Wayne State College on Mar. 21 and 22, weather permitting.
