BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Hockey team begins a four-game road trip this weekend and travels to face No. 10 University of Minnesota Duluth for a Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, Minn.

Riding an upset win against then No. 13 Minnesota State University, Mankato, the Beavers (6-19-3, 3-18-1 WCHA) hope to carry momentum into their series against the No. 10 Bulldogs (13-12-3, 9-10-3 WCHA). The series begins Friday, Feb. 6 at 3:02 p.m., with game one at AMSOIL Arena followed by game two Saturday at 2:02 p.m.

Bemidji State Notes
- Bemidji State hits the road to begin a four-game road trip and will be its final two road trips of the 2025-26 regular season.
- Bemidji State is coming off a series split with then ranked No. 13 Minnesota State in Bemidji and Grand Rapids, Minn.
- After falling 3-0 in game one of the series, the Beavers upset the Mavericks 2-1 Saturday at Yanmar Arena in Grand Rapids in part of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Face-Off Classic.
- The win was the third victory over a ranked opponent this season and snapped a seven-game losing streak.
- Senior Ava Hills was dominant in between the pipes for the Beavers stopping 67-of-71 shots for a .944 save percentage and 2.00 goals against average.
- After falling down 1-0 in the first period against the Mavericks, the Beavers rallied to score two unanswered with goals from Izy Fairchild and the game-winning goal from Shelby Sandberg marking the first time this season and first time since Jan. 4, 2025 the Beavers earned a comeback victory.
- The Beavers earned their sixth win of the year, matching last year's season total in head coach Amber Fryklund's first season.
- The Beavers will face their fourth consecutive top-15 nationally ranked opponent in the 10th ranked Mavericks.
- 10 of the Beavers' 15 series this season have been versus top-15 nationally ranked opponents.
- Bemidji State is 3-15-0 against nationally ranked opponents this season.
- Bemidji State is 22-98-4 all-time against the Bulldogs and are aiming to snap a 19-game losing streak versus Minnesota Duluth.
- The Beavers' last win against UMD was Jan. 22, 2021 and their last win at AMSOIL Arena was Jan. 29, 2020 in four overtimes.
- BSU is 11-52-3 all-time when playing at AMSOIL Arena.
- Minnesota Duluth earned the series sweep over the Beavers in their first meeting of the season Dec. 5-6 in Bemidji by scores of 4-1 and 4-0.
- Six WCHA games remain before the WCHA Playoffs begin Feb. 27.
- Sophomore Morgan Smith leads the team with 22 points (11g-11a) through 28 games surpassing the 20-point mark she set during her freshman campaign.
- She has tied a career-high with 11 goals, set a career-high with 11 assists and is the first Beaver since Clair DeGeorge (2018-20) with back-to-back 20-point seasons.
- She is also the first Beaver sophomore to start her collegiate career with consecutive 20-point seasons since Clair DeGeorge (2017-19).
- Smith is one of five Beavers with 20-points in their first two seasons of collegiate women's hockey joining DeGeorge (2017-20) Kelly Hart (2003-07), Caesare Stimson (2000-02) and Alicia Kinsman (1999-02).
- Junior captain Hailey Armstrong follows smith with 17 points, leads the team with 12 goals and has posted back-to-back seasons with 10 or more goals.
- She has skated in 101 career games and totaled 31 goals in her collegiate career which is tied for 16th most at Bemidji State.
- Armstrong also has three game-winning goals leading the team this season and seven during her career which is tied for the fourth most in program history.
- Redshirt sophomore Isa Goettl is third on the team with 16 points and has seven points (2g-5a) over the last seven games.
- The Beavers' goals per game average of 1.71 this season is the best since the 2019-20 season (1.92).
- Junior Carmen Bray leads the Beavers' blueline with eight points off eight assists.
- Sophomore Kaitlin Groess leads BSU netminders with 17 of the team's 28 starts. She has posted a 4-12-2 record, 4.18 goals against average and .876 save percentage.
- However, senior Ava Hills has started the last three games and leads the team with a 3.98 goals against average and .901 save percentage in 11 starts.
- Bemidji State leads the WCHA and is 13th nationally with 404 blocked shots.
- Freshman defender Katy Comstock leads the WCHA and is tied for 10th nationally with 61 blocked shots despite her 5-foot-0-inch stature.
- The Beavers are in year two under the leadership of head coach Amber Fryklund.
- She has brought in 11 newcomers to the green and white including transfers Carmen Bray (St. Cloud State) and Elly Klepinger (Minnesota).
- Junior Hailey Armstrong captains the Beavers during the 2025-26 season and will be assisted by Smith and senior Raeley Carney.
- Eight freshmen join the team in Senja Leeper (Minnetonka HS), Lola Macuiba (Shawnigan Lake School), Kasey Senden (Hill-Murray HS), Addie Morris (Benilde-St. Margaret's), Paige Smith (Edmonton Jr. Oilers), Maddie Kaiser (Balmoral Hall Prep), Katy Comstock (Warroad HS) and Ashlyn Hazlett (Minnetonka HS).Â
