Beavers travel to Melbourne for final tune-up before NSIC play

Ten games on tap at USSSA Space Coast Complex

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Softball gets back on the road Thursday as the Beavers travel to Melbourne, Fla. for the Space Coast Spring Games, hosted at the USSSA Space Coast Complex. BSU is scheduled to play 10 games against non-conference opponents ahead of opening the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schedule in late March. 
 
The Beavers kick things off at 10 a.m. EST on Friday with Cedarville University on the Blue Louisville Field. After a game break, the Beavers are set to play Southern New Hampshire University at 2:30 p.m. from the Blue Marucci Field. Day two will have a rematch on the schedule for the Beavers, taking on Roosevelt University at 12:15 p.m on the Blue Easton Field. Earlier this season, BSU was swept by RU at the Lewis Dome Invitational, 4-0. The day completes with Salem University at 7 p.m. on the same field.
 
BSU's Sunday is set to be spent on the White Easton Field, taking on Thomas More University at 10 a.m. and Bentley University at 2:30 p.m. The following day, the Beavers will have a day off before returning to close the tournament with four games. On Tuesday, Goldey-Beacom College will meet the Beavers for the second time in program history. Back in 2024, the Beavers took down the Lightning 12-8. The second game of the day is set for 2:30, pinning BSU against D'Youville University. Bemidji State finishes the tournament on Mar. 11 with a 10 a.m. first pitch against Malone University and 2:30 against No. 11 University of Indianapolis. At the Spring Games last season, the Beavers took down the, then No. 16, Greyhounds 1-0. 
 
BSU enters the week at 3-11 overall. The team grabbed two wins while in Rosemont, Ill., taking down Hillsdale College and Lewis University. They then started the Top Gun Midwest College Classic with a win over Newman University, 10-3, before dropping three to end the trip. 
 
NSIC play is set to kick off on Mar. 21 with the Beavers hosting Augustana University at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., field conditions permitting. BSU is also scheduled to host Wayne State College the following day at noon and 2 p.m. The NSIC tournament is set to kick off on May 6 at the Sanford Diamonds in Sioux Falls, S.D. with the top 10 teams making the tournament.
