Softball travels to Jamestown and Aberdeen this weekend

Beavers to play two days of doubleheaders against Jimmies and Wolves

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Softball travels to Jamestown, N.D. and Aberdeen, S.D. for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheaders. The Beavers will play the University of Jamestown Jimmies at noon and 2 p.m. Saturday, followed by taking on the Northern State University Wolves at the same times on Sunday.
 
The Beavers are 8-27 overall this season and 2-10 in the NSIC after earning their first conference wins last weekend, sweeping the University of Mary. Alayna DeGraef leads the Beavers in the box with a .377 batting average. Starting in all 35 games this season, DeGraef has marked 43 hits and 13 runs in 114 at bats with seven doubles and one home run. She has also batted in 19 this season. Keira Lucero leads the pitchers with a 4.92 ERA over 16 appearances. Lucero has allowed an opposing batting average of .355, second on the team behind Danica Sarff
 
Jamestown currently sits at 23-14 overall and 4-10 in the NSIC. Earlier this week, the Jimmies split a series with the Wolves, winning game one 2-0 and falling in the second 9-2. Trinity Gregg leads the Jimmies with a .404 batting average and .481 on-base percentage. Starting in all 37 games for UJ, Gregg has amassed 46 hits and 36 runs with 18 runners batted in. In the circle, Abby Blair leads with an ERA of 2.51, followed closely by Aubrey Quern who has marked an 8-4 record and 2.56 ERA.
 
Northern State is 12-18 this season and matches UJ's conference record at 4-10 after splitting with them earlier this week. Sydney Anderson has claimed the top spot for NSU batters, hitting at .356 and marking 21 hits, six runs and five RBIs. On the mound, McKenzie Wanner leads with a 3.78 ERA and .285 opponent batting average in 90.2 innings pitched. She holds a 5-9 record in 18 appearances, 10 complete games and one shutout, allowing just 49 earned runs. 
 
Following this weekend, the Beavers are set to host Minnesota State University Moorhead for a doubleheader Friday, April 17. Fans are encouraged to wear pink alongside the Beavers in support of cancer awareness. They will then travel to Crookston, Minn. to take on the University of Minnesota Crookston Sunday afternoon.
