Beavers to Pink Out the Chet with MSUM Dragons

BSU will host its home opener against MSUM at Chet Anderson Stadium Thursday

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Softball is set to host Minnesota State University Moorhead Thursday for a Pink Out doubleheader. Games will take place at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. from Chet Anderson Stadium. 
 
The Beavers are 9-30 this season, sitting at 3-13 in the conference, and have yet to play a game on either of their home fields. Last weekend, the Beavers were swept by the University of Jamestown Jimmies before splitting a series at Northern State University. BSU took game two against NSU 2-1. 
 
Junior centerfielder Jackie Larsen leads the Beavers in the batter's box with a .379 batting average in 38 games. She has grabbed 116 at bats with 44 hits and 24 runs scored, hitting three doubles and batting in 11. Alayna DeGraef follows closely behind, hitting at .376 with 125 at bats and 47 hits, marking nine extra-base hits. Aubrey Aukerman leads the team in stolen bases this season, marking a .917 stolen base percentage, grabbing bases 11 times and being caught stealing just once. Danica Sarff leads the Beavers in the circle, marking a 4.54 ERA with a 4-7 record in 22 appearances with one complete game and a shutout. In 71.0 innings, Sarff has allowed just over one hit per inning with 46 runs scored and has struck out 43, holding opponents to a .270 batting average. In the field, Avery Amidon leads the charge from first base, marking 143 chances with 141 putouts and just one error. Amidon has helped turn five double plays. 
 
The Dragons enter the series at 5-34 overall and even with the Beavers in NSIC play. The Dragons are also coming off a win last weekend, taking down the University of Mary in game two by a score of 13-10. MSUM will take on University of Minnesota Duluth Sunday before the Bulldogs host the Beavers midweek next week.
 
Leading Dragon batters this season is senior infielder Lexie Wilson. She has grabbed a .327 batting average with a .451 on-base percentage, marking 32 hits in 98 at bats. Close behind Wilson is freshman infielder/catcher Riley McKeever with a .326 average, grabbing 31 hits in 95 at bats, including five extra-base hits for the Dragons. In the circle, Brynna Farman leads the Dragons with a 4.45 ERA, allowing a .304 opponent-batting average in 18 appearances and five complete games. She has allowed 89 hits in 72.1 innings with 46 earned runs and 54 strikeouts.
