MANKATO, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Baseball team faced a tough doubleheader against No. 26 Minnesota State University, Mankato Monday at Bowyer Field in Mankato, Minn., suffering defeats of 14–2 and 16–0.
In the first game, Bemidji State managed to score two runs in the second inning, but Minnesota State responded with a commanding five-run fifth inning and a four-run seventh inning, securing the win. Bemidji State recorded three hits and committed two errors during the game.
Adrian Falcon highlighted his impact at the plate with two RBIs from a double.
Matt Filippi added a run and a hit, while
Nash Rubins drew a walk and scored a run, providing a steady presence in the lineup.
Riley Czech pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief without allowing a hit, demonstrating control and efficiency from the mound.
Carter Scanlon started for Bemidji State, pitching 1 1/3 innings and allowing four runs on two hits while striking out one and walking three.
Connor Donlin provided 2 2/3 innings of relief, yielding one earned run on four hits with two strikeouts.
Jack Barnett faced difficulty in his appearance, conceding five runs on four hits in just 2/3 inning.
Jace Ostermeyer and
Devon Cook combined for the final outs, with Cook striking out one batter in his brief outing.
In the second game, Bemidji State was overpowered by Minnesota State in a 16-0 defeat. The Mavericks' offense dominated with 19 hits, including eight doubles and a home run. Bemidji State managed three hits, while its pitching staff recorded five strikeouts.
Matt Filippi,
Nash Rubins, and
Carlos Largaespada each collected hits for the Beavers. On the mound,
Cayden Cincis pitched a scoreless inning, allowing no hits and striking out one batter.
Bemidji State's pitching staff faced challenges, starting with
Lucas Ferreira, who pitched just 1/3 of an inning while allowing four earned runs on three hits, including two doubles.
Joey Koch followed with 2 2/3 innings of relief, giving up four runs on five hits, including a home run.
Ethan Biehn added two innings, conceding four earned runs on six hits with one strikeout.
Bret Inman pitched one inning, allowing three runs on five hits, and Cincis closed out with a scoreless inning.
Bemidji State now travels to Sioux Falls, S.D., for a doubleheader against University of Jamestown Wednesday.
