Softball finishes season on the road at CSP and SCSU

Beavers to play final doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Softball heads on the road Saturday and Sunday for the final road trip of the Beavers' season. BSU will take on Concordia University, St. Paul Saturday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., followed by St. Cloud State University Sunday at the same times. 
 
The Beavers enter this final weekend sitting at 10-39 overall and 4-22 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. They currently sit in 14th in the NSIC and have hit a rough patch in the season, falling in the last nine games, five of which have ended early due to run rules. Junior outfielder Jackie Larsen leads the Beavers at the plate with an average of .354, marking 52 hits in 147 at bats with 28 runs scored and 14 batted in. In the circle, junior Danica Sarff leads with a 5.32 ERA and 4-9 record in 28 appearances. Pitching one complete game and a shutout, Sarff has pitched 79.0 innings allowing an opponent batting average of .289 to lead the Beavers. 
 
The Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears sit just over .500 this season, grabbing a 26-23 overall record and going 15-11 in the NSIC for seventh place heading into the final weekend of regular-season action. CSP took down BSU to start the season on February 6th in St. Cloud, Minn., winning in the 8th inning by a score of 5-4. Last weekend, the Golden Bears swept University of Minnesota Crookston, 7-0 and 5-1. With four student-athletes batting .316 or higher this season, the Golden Bears are led by Alexis Monty at .331 percent. In 154 at bats, she has amassed 51 hits including 18 extra-base hits. On the mound, Abi Carter dominates with an ERA of 1.51, ranking second for ERA in the conference. She has allowed an opponent batting average of .244 in 221 at bats and 23 appearances, not starting any games for CSP. 
 
Following a doubleheader on Saturday against University of Minnesota Duluth, SCSU will host BSU at Husky Stadium to close the regular season. St. Cloud State is ranked second in the conference with an overall record of 40-12 and NSIC record of 22-3, currently on a seven-game winning streak. SCSU's Macey Clark leads the NSIC with an ERA of 1.27 this season, marking 18 wins and just five losses in 25 starts and allowing an opponent average of .169. Bethany Weiss leads from the batter's box with a .366 average and 1.006 on-base-plus-slugging percentage. Starting all 52 games this season, she has grabbed 67 hits including 26 extra-base hits and 50 RBIs.
