BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Football senior defensive back, L'Shawn Taylor, has been selected as a nominee for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which recognizes commitment to community service and leadership off the field.
 
Taylor, a native of Milwaukee, Wis., is one of the 162 nominees for the honor and the only nominee from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The final roster of the 2026 Good Works Team will be announced in September and include 22 student-athletes and one honorary head coach. One student-athlete will also be selected as team captain and receive the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy. 
 
"LT exemplifies what it means to be a faith based servant leader," said Head Coach Brent Bolte. "He is always first to help those around him and putting the greater needs of those individuals ahead of his own. He has left a large imprint not only on our football program but the entire BSU and local community."
 
Committed to his faith, L'Shawn Taylor has earned his nomination through his work with BSU's Fellowship of Christian Athletes, vacation bible school at Calvary Chapel, FCA's Northland Bible Camp and multiple mission trips with el Refugio in Mexico. Taylor is also an active volunteer with Special Olympics where he has served as a competition official for swimming and volunteers with BSU and Bemidji High School's Unified Basketball initiatives. With the football program, Taylor takes on volunteer roles at the team's annual youth camps, Ruby's Pantry and as a National Marrow Donor Program registry volunteer this past spring.

In December, Taylor was recognized by Beaver Football as the team's annual Jim Potts Award recipient, an award given to a football student-athlete who dedicates their time to the community and serving others.
