Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – After going 2-1 to start spring training, the Bemidji State University softball team dropped two games on its second day of outdoor play in Florida. The Beavers fell 4-1 to West Liberty University of West Virginia before dropping a 5-1 decision to the University of Bridgeport to finish the day.
BSU is now 4-9 on the young 2013 season with six more games to play on its spring training trip, which comes to a close Monday. Bemidji State will jump into Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play March 26 at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.
West Liberty started the season with a 1-5 record before traveling south for spring training and is now 5-10 after capping its trip to Florida with a win against the Beavers Wednesday.
Bridgeport, which began its season with its trip to Florida, is now 4-6 after snapping a three-game losing streak against WLU 4-3 Wednesday morning and defeating BSU later in the day.
Bemidji State will play again Thursday against St. Joseph’s College (Ind.) and Bentley University (Mass.) in Clermont before finishing the trip with six games in Titusville.
After taking Friday off Bemidji State will sandwich a doubleheader against Gallaudet College out of Washington D.C. Sunday between a pair of exhibition contests against Heartland College (Ill.) and Gloucester College (N.J.) Saturday and two more exhibition games against College of DuPage (Ill.) and Tompkins Cortland (N.Y.) to finish the trip Monday.
