Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Bemidji State University softball team moved its record to 10-2 after a pair of victories Wednesday against Gordon College and SUNYIT by scores of 8-0 and 2-0, respectively. With the 10 victories, the Beavers have already surpassed their win total from last season (8).
In game one against Gordon College, BSU plated four runs in both the third and fourth innings to give starter Allison Roberts (P, Jr., Crystal, Minn.) plenty of run support. Kaitlyn Shea (OF, Fr., Woodbury, Minn.) tallied a pair of two-run triples in the third and fourth frames to lead BSU’s offense. Senior Nicole Dupay (OF, Woodbury, Minn.) also posted a two-hit game and plated two RBI.
Roberts was stellar in the circle for the Beavers allowing just three hits, while striking out four in five innings of work. Roberts’ record is now 3-0 this season.
Game two of the day against SUNYIT was a pitchers’ duel. Freshman Jessica Yost (P, Bemidji, Minn.) posted another stellar start for the Beavers pitching seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits, one walk, while striking eight.
The Beavers were able to scratch out a run in the first and second frames. The two runs were both jumpstarted by a pair of extra-base hits by Angie Roberts (OF, Fr., Andover, Minn.) and Lyndsey Peterson (OF, So., Cottonwood, Minn.) and both players would cross the plate due to errors by the SUNYIT defense.
Bemidji State will look to keep things rolling on day four of the Snowbird Softball Invitational Thursday, as it will take on Penn College and Mount Aloysius College at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. respectively.
