Beavers fall to Lawrence Tech and Michigan-Dearborn

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Bemidji State softball team fell to Lawrence Technical University and University of Michigan-Dearborn on the fourth day of The Spring Games in non-conference action Wednesday morning. The Beavers (8-10) fell to the Blue Devils 11-3 in six innings in the day's first action and later fell 5-2 in walk-off fashion to Michigan-Dearborn.

The Beavers fall to 8-10 on the season and will continue play in central Florida tomorrow afternoon when they face Northwood University and Lake Erie College.

A 10-run first inning doomed the Beavers in the first action of the day as the Blue Devils totaled nine hits in the game compared to six by the Beavers.

Junior Lisa Kossa led the Beavers at the plate by going 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI while junior Stephi Dullum drove in the other run for Bemidji State in a pinch-hitting opportunity. Freshman Kyla Damerow earned her first loss of the season after pitching six innings and allowed 11 runs, 10 earned off of nine hits and had two strikeouts.

The Beavers fell by way of a walk-off home run in the seventh inning of game two to fall to 8-10 on the season. Bemijdi State tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth inning when senior Olivia Tucker hit a solo home run but a three-run home run by UMD in the bottom of the seventh earned the victory for the Wolverines. 

Junior Gabi Bingham and Tucker each totaled two hits in the game while Tucker drove in both runs for the Beavers. Sophomore Kaidron McClafferty pitched all 6.1 innings and allowed five runs, three earned off of seven hits but earned seven strikeouts to fall to 2-5 on the season.
