Ulmer announces addition of four during early signing period

BSU Volleyball announces commitments of four student-athletes for 2023

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Volleyball head coach Kevin Ulmer announced the commitment of four student-athletes for the Beavers' upcoming 2023 season during the NCAA's early signing period Wednesday, Nov. 9. Lillian Bandle (Jackson, Wis.), Hannah Kos (Greendale, Wis.), Katrina Thompson (Victoria, Minn.) and Sidney Wissbrod (Lakeville, Minn.) have each signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Bemidji State and play volleyball for the Beavers next fall.
 
All signees are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
 
The 2023 signing class for Ulmer is made up of one libero, one middle blocker, one outside hitter and one setter.
 
* Lillian Bandle – 6-1 – MB– Jackson, Wis. (West Bend East HS)
Bandle is a letterwinner for the West Bend East High School girls volleyball program… Led the state in blocks during the 2022 season… All-Northshore Conference First Team selection in 2021.
 
Personal: Daughter of Jeffrey and Christie Bandle… Born on October 30, 2004… Plans to major in Aquatic Biology when attending Bemidji State.
 
Coach Ulmer on Bandle: "Lilly brings a very dynamic arm swing and a light-hearted spirit to every game she plays. We're excited to see Lilly develop into an explosive middle that can help lead our team offensively and defensively."
 
* Hannah Kos – 6-0 – RS/OH – Greendale, Wis. (Greendale HS)
Kos is a four-year letterwinner for the Greendale High School girls volleyball program… 2022 Woodland West First Team selection and All-Woodland Conference Team… Two-time All-Woodland Conference Honorable Mention… Four-year member of the Greendale High School High Honor Roll, four-year academic letter winner and National Honor Society member.
 
Personal: Daughter of Leopold Kos and Amela Audic-Kos… Born on April 9, 2005… Plans to major in Environmental Studies when attending Bemidji State… Enjoys playing the Cello and Piano, reading, swimming, going on hikes and spending time with friends and family when not on the volleyball court.
 
Coach Ulmer on Kos: "Hannah is the kind of player that has the ability to play six rotations in the NSIC. She hits with power, defends and passes consistently. We look forward to adding her ability to hit on both pins and bring consistency to our rotation."
   
* Katrina Thompson – 5-9 – S – Victoria, Minn. (Chaska HS)
Thompson is a letterwinner for the Chaska High School girls volleyball program… 2022 team captain for the Hawks… Helped the Hawks reach the 2022 Minnesota State Volleyball Tournament where the team is currently in the Class AAAA Quarterfinal match… Four-time Metro West Conference Champion… 2021 team MVP… 2021 Metro West Honorable Mention… Reached 1,000 set assists during her senior season… 2021 Section 2AAA runner up…. 2019 Lady Hawk Award winner… Member of Chaska High School's Dean's List and academic letter winner.
 
Personal: Daughter of Chad Heroux and Lisa Thompson… Born on January 5, 2005… Plans to major in Biology when attending Bemidji State… Enjoys baking, cooking, traveling, listening to music and spending time with friends and family when not on the volleyball court.
 
Coach Ulmer on Thompson: "Katrina brings experience from high school and club in running an offense that is balanced and efficient. Her IQ, effort, and leadership will raise the level of intensity in the gym on day one!"
   
* Sidney Wissbrod – 5-5 – L – Lakeville, Minn. (Lakeville North HS)
Wissbrod is a three-time letterwinner for the Lakeville North High School girls volleyball program… Helped the Panthers to a Section 1AAAA Championship and reach the 2022 Minnesota State Volleyball tournament where they are currently scheduled to play Centennial High School… Helped the Panthers to a fifth-place finish at the 2021 State Tournament… 2022 Bachman Tournament Champions… 2022 Southwest MN Challenge second-place finish… 2022 Apple Valley Invite second-place finish… 2022 Team Captain for the Panthers.
 
Personal: Daughter of Brent and Melissa Wissbrod… Born on June 8, 2005… Plans to major in computer science while attending Bemidji State… Enjoys baking when not on the volleyball court.
 
Coach Ulmer on Wissbrod: "Sidney will be a tremendous addition to our back court in the coming years. She is composed in receive and relentless on defense. Her attitude and personality are exactly what our team needs to continue to grow in practice and within the NSIC."
