EDMOND, Okla. – With 54 holes complete, the Bemidji State University Men's Golf team wrapped up the fall on Tuesday placing 15th at the NCAA Regional Preview on the par 70, 6,944-yard Kickingbird Golf Course.
Bemidji State had rounds of 298-286-297 for an 881 to place 15th. The Beavers were four shots back of Sioux Falls in 14th. Arkansas Tech won the 21-team field with an 842 to hold off Central Oklahoma by three-strokes. Harding's Sam Tandy claimed the individual crown with an 11-under 199 to hold off Central Oklahoma's Nick Canales' 10-under 200.
Brandon Bervig and Logan Schoepp paced the Beavers tying for 51st with final scores of 220. Bervig had rounds of 76-70-74, while Schoepp had rounds of 77-69-74. Schoepp's 69 was the lowest on the team at the tournament. Jack Southard carded a 223 with rounds of 76-70-77 to tie for 65th. Southard's 70 ties with Bervig's 70 for the other two rounds that were even par. Koby Kuenzel was right behind Southard with a 224 (73-77-74) to tie for 68th. Rounding out the group for the Beavers was Caden Lick who tied for 80th with scores of 73-79-75 for a 227.
Bemidji State posted averages of 3.36 in par-three, 4.32 in par-four and 4.76 in par-five. The Beavers tallied 153 pars, 31 birdies and an eagle throughout the tournament. Southard led the team in par-three scoring (3.20), Kuenzel, Schoepp and Bervig tied for the team lead in par-four (4.27), while Bervig and Schoepp tied for the team lead in par-five (4.67). Kuenzel had a team-best 33 pars, Schoepp tallied eight birdies and Bervig had an eagle.
Bemidji State will now be off until the spring season, having competed in five tournaments during the fall.
