St. Joseph, Mo. – The Bemidji State University Men's Golf team opened their first three round tournament of the fall Monday at the Holiday Inn MWSU Invitational and are tied for 12th at the St. Joseph Country Club.
Bemidji State carded rounds of 300-292 for a 592 to tie Rogers State for 12th. The Beavers are just one stroke back of Minnesota Crookston and three back of Washburn in 10th. Missouri Southern State leads with a 561 to hold a 17-stroke lead over both Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State. Missouri Western State's Jeffery Johnston leads on the individual side with a 133 holding a one-shot lead over two golfers from Missouri Southern State.
Koby Kuenzel had solid rounds of 74-71 for a three-over 145 to tie for 14th. Brandon Bervig and Caden Lick are both tied for 35th with rounds of 148. Bervig tallied scores of 74 for each round, while Lick had rounds of 75-73. Logan Schoepp posted rounds of 77-76 for a 153 and is tied for 66th, while Jack Southard rounds out the group for the Beavers a stroke back of Schoepp with a 155 (80-74) and is tied for 72nd.
Kuenzel is among the leaders in pars with 27 to sit second. Bervig has 11 birdies to tie for third. Lick had one of the 13 birdies over the first two rounds. Bervig was strong in par-five scoring at 4.40. Bemidji State as a team has 100 pars, 27 birdies and an eagle.
The third and final round will conclude on Tuesday morning starting at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
