SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The fourth-seeded Bemidji State University Men's Basketball team advanced to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's Basketball Tournament semifinals for the first time in 10 season and will take on the two seed in the NSIC North, Minnesota State University, Moorhead. The Beavers and Dragons will tip off at 7 p.m. Monday at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Series vs MSU Moorhead
· MSU Moorhead leads the all-time series against Bemidji State, 85-56.
· The Beavers and Dragons last met Feb. 11, 2023, earlier this season, with an 88-87 win by BSU in Bemidji, Minn. This season BSU and MSUM split the series with each winning at home.
· This is the fifth meeting in the postseason for the Beavers and Dragons with both teams winning two games.
· BSU and MSUM first met Jan. 14, 1950, with a 61-57 win by the Dragons.
Fast Break Bemidji State
- The Beavers continue their post season run after defeating the number one-seed in the south Wayne State College 79-71, Saturday afternoon at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
- Bemidji State advances to the semifinals of the NSIC Tournament for the eighth time in program history with a record of 2-5.
- Bemidji State earned its 20th win of the season, the third time in program history BSU has recorded 20 plus wins. The Beavers are 20-10 on the season and 13-9 in the NSIC.
- After a career-high 23 points, freshman Johnny Tennyson was named Player of the Game after defeating Wayne State. Tennyson shot 8-for-10 from the field, 6-for-8 behind the arc and 1-for-2 at the free throw line.
- Bemidji State had a strong second half showing converting on 52.5% of its shot from the field and scored eight three-pointers.
- Bemidji State is 12-2 when making 10 or more three-pointers in a game. The Beavers reached their 14th game with over 10 triples with 13 made against WSC.
- Four student-athletes reached double figures in the quarterfinals with Tennyson leading with 23 points. John Sutherland and Mohamed Kone both tallied 16 points and RJ Smith netted 12 points.
- Sutherland has scored a team-high 546 points, the eighth-most points scored in a season in program history.
- Sutherland pulled in nine rebounds on Saturday improving to 242 on the season, fifth-best in program history. He is only two rebounds away from cracking into the top-three.
- The Beavers have shot over 50% in 16 games this season. Bemidji State ranks 19th in Division II converting on 49.7% on the season.
- Sutherland is leading the conference shooting 58.8% from the floor and is 25th in the nation.
- Bemidji State averages 79.4 points per game, fourth-best in the conference and allow 77.2 ppg, 12th in the NSIC.
- The Beavers are 15th in turnovers and seventh in assist to turnover ratio with a 1.20 ratio.
Scouting MSU Moorhead
- Head Coach Tim Bergstrase is in his first season with the Dragons (24-6).
- MSUM (24-6, 17-5 NSIC) earned a first round bye in the NSIC Tournament after finishing with the second-seed in the NSIC North. MSU Moorhead took down the University of Sioux Falls Saturday night in the quarterfinals 76-56.
- MSU Moorhead averages 79.8 points per game shooting 45.8% from the field and 35.3% from behind the arc.
- Sophomore guard Jacob Beeninga leads the Dragons with 485 points. In the two prior meetings with the Beavers Beeninga scored a combined 38 points. Beeninga and senior Gavin Baumgartner were named to the All-NSIC First Team.
